1. Cave Point — Whitefish Dunes State Park


Get close to the water at Cave Point, located in Whitefish Dunes State Park. Here you can watch the waves crash against the rocks and hike along Lake Michigan!

2. Northport Road in Gills Rock

On of the most famously recognized roads in Door County is Highway 42 leaving to Washington Island. If you like roller coasters, you’re in for a treat!


3. Observation Tower — Potawatomi State Park


Looking to catch some air? Climb the Observation Tower in Potawatomi State Park and see a gorgeous view of Sturgeon Bay. It can get a little windy at the top, so be prepared!

4. Washington Island Ferry, Highway 42

Take the ferry to Washington Island! The only way to get there is by purchasing one of these tickets. You can pay for transportation for bicycles, motorcycles, and cars as well!


5. Schoolhouse Beach, Washington Island

Washington Island is located at the most northern part of Door County. Like mentioned earlier, the only way to get there is by riding the ferry. Once here, make a visit to Schoolhouse Beach for its unique and beautiful shoreline of white pebble stones. The site is unlike anything you’ll ever see.


6. Bluffs of Ellison Bay

If you like to be in the water, this is the perfect place for you. Rent a kayak or canoe, and paddle toward the bluffs of Ellison Bay to see this outstanding coast.


7. Cana Island Lighthouse

Ever been inside a lighthouse? Here at the Cana Island Lighthouse you can explore the quiet island and climb 97 steps to the deck of the lighthouse. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes for your safety since the causeway to the island can be under water!

8. Sturgeon Bay Bridge, Sturgeon Bay

It’s the Golden Gate Bridge of Door County! The historic Sturgeon Bay bridge is a short but fun ride, especially if you’ve never been on one. Looking out, it has a colorful view of the bay and downtown.

9. Egg Harbor Marina

Visit the Egg Harbor Marina! The marina offers fishing, boating, food and a designated beach area for all. Slip rentals are also available from anywhere between and hour to an entire day, so get out on the water!

10. Apple Orchards of Sister Bay

Go to the apple orchards in Sister Bay and sample the refreshing ciders made from over 30 different types of French, British, and American apples! Tours of the orchards are available as well.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
