West Cobb is where I've grown up, and it is a place that will always be part of me. We've all heard of the "East Cobb Snobs", but I think it is time to define the better half of the county, at least in my opinion.

1. Tiny Bubbles

Located in Marietta Square, Tiny Bubbles holds all of your bubble tea needs. My personal favorite is the Peaches and Cream bubble tea, but their menu holds a variety of flavors.

2. West Cobb Diner

Okay, maybe I'm slightly biased because I've worked here for a while but let's be honest for a minute. I'm here almost every day and I don't think I could ever get sick of the food.

3. Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield

This park is pretty much located in my backyard. Though you can hike the mainstream trail, there are also many other side trails around the mountain that hold great historic value and can entertain anyone for a while.

4. Nothing Bundt Cakes

Located in the new shopping center on Barrett Parkway, this is probably one of my favorite places to grab dessert or fix a craving for sweets.

5. The Frozen Cow

This is not your typical ice cream shop. This is one of the ice cream places where they use the nitrogen to create your ice cream with all of the delicious toppings that you would like, enough said.

6. Cillies

Cillies is a consignment shop located next to the West Marietta Kroger. You can buy cheap fashion items there. Also, if you're feeling extra thrifty, you can even sell your own clothes in exchange for cash!

7. The Daily Grind

If you need a caffeine fix, the Daily Grind is my go-to. This place is like a homemade Starbucks, essentially. You'll find a wide assortment of bakery items, smoothies, frappes, and several coffee selections on the menu. This is also a great place to study or get work done if you need to!

8. Marietta Pizza Company

Not going to lie, I could probably eat a pepperoni and cheese stromboli from here every. single. day. I'm constantly craving it. On the plus side, UberEats will also deliver this one if you're not within the delivering zone.

9. Kennesaw State University

The Kennesaw Campus is my home, and a great campus to tour if you're in the area. Kennesaw's campus looks gorgeous all year and is a great place to take an afternoon stroll or hang an eno and chill out for the day.

10. Dave Poe's BBQ

This BBQ place is an absolute classic, and a must if you plan on stopping into the Marietta/West Cobb area.

While East Cobb is fancy, West Cobb is home. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
