1. Cheesecake Heaven

There are no words good enough to describe how delicious their cheesecake is! They have 30+ flavors and none of them disappoint! They have large, mini, and bite-size cheesecakes, cheesecake stuffed chocolate covered strawberries (oh my word!), brownies, and a few other yummy treats. It's the blue house on Tyler Street. Ya can't miss it!

Calling all cookie lovers! If you haven't tried a cookie from Mama Wilson's, you have to go. They are seriously some of the best cookies I've ever had! The key lime cookie is my favorite. You can go in and buy a few cookies, a gift box, order a cake, or ship a box of cookies to someone. It's located in downtown Dalton on North Pentz Street.

6. The Sweet Spot

Surely you've been to The Sweet Spot. If not, they offer self serve frozen yogurt that you can pile high with your choice of fruit, candy, cereal, cheesecake, and even brownie bites onto. They also have soups, sandwiches, Otis Spunkmeyer cookies, fresh fruit, coffee, a hot chocolate bar. Go fill up a cup or cone with your own froyo creation!

7. Ice Castle

This place always gives me nostalgia. My mom used to take me here, "the place with the huge ice cream cone", when I was a little girl. I was in love with their bubble gum ice cream that has little pieces of gum throughout. I must admit, I went a few months ago and got the bubble gum ice cream, and I still enjoyed every second of it!

8. La Esperanza Bakery

I almost passed out the first time I walked into La Esperanza. I had no idea that they offered SO MUCH FOOD! It's impressive. It's a bakery that offers a wide variety of Mexican/Guatemalan bread, delicious three-milk cakes, and all sorts of other goodies. I leave with my front seat full of stuff anytime that I go. This is an authentic Mexican bakery right here in Dalton that you must visit!

9. Joyce's Tasty Treats

This is a new one! They offer a variety of sweets as well as soup, salad, and sandwiches. I haven't had the chance to go yet, but...look at those donuts! I'd rather have one of these over Krispy Kreme any day.

10. Downtown Dalton Farmers Market

I can't help but mention the Downtown Dalton Farmers Market! Last week I bought two mini loaves of bread. They were so good! There's a variety of local and fresh sweets offered at the Farmers Market, including local honey. One of my dear friends, Michelle, has sold her fresh milled scones, pizza dough, breads, cookies, and homemade butter at The Downtown Dalton Farmers Market. A picture of her scones are below (they are to die for). Go check it out this Saturday!

P.S.- If you have something that you make or grow, you should go sell there! Contact Tanner at tanner@downtowndalton.com, if interested.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
