The great thing about big cities is there is always something to do. Sometimes this can be a bit overwhelming for those trying to plan what to do while in Los Angeles. When planning a weekend or day adventure in California, remember to be realistic. This is a beautiful city with a ton to offer. However, keep in mind estimated travel times. The LA traffic might put a few plans on hold, so be sure to prioritize the best spots first.

Here are the best spots in LA to prioritize:

1. In-N-Out

You're not officially a Californian until you've tried In-N-Out. Want to branch out? Try an item on the secret menu, which includes In-N-Out animal fries, which are smothered in cheese.

2. The Hollywood Walk of Fame

Enjoy all the Hollywood Walk of Fame has to offer. This is a great tourist attraction for many reasons. Be sure to snap a picture with Batman, see the stars, visit the wax museum, tour Ripley's Believe It or Not, and pick up a few souvenirs.

3. Melrose Avenue

From Valentino to Nasty Gal, Melrose Avenue provides an impressive array of unique shops. Aside from shopping, Melrose is known to have amazing street art. Be sure to take a picture in front of the infamous Paul Smith pink wall.

4. Rodeo Drive

Prepare to drop a fat wad of cash on Rodeo. Charlotte Olympia, Cartier and Chanel are just a few of the places to go. If you're on a budget, this might not be the best place for you.

5. Runyon Canyon

Oversee all of Los Angeles from the top Runyon Canyon. Be Warned: Finding a place to park is harder than the hike in itself. Hiking Runyon Canyon during anytime of the day is great. Be on the look out for dog poop!

6. Griffith Observatory

Free to all, the Griffith Observatory provides city views of all Los Angeles. Go inside to check out telescopes or explore exhibits.

7. Santa Monica Pier/ Third Street Promenade

Spend the entire day shopping on Third Street Promenade. After picking up some goodies, take a stroll down to the pier to enjoy entertainment, food, and rides.

8. The Grove Shopping Center

The Grove Shopping Center is a large outdoor mall filled with restaurants, live entertainment, train rides and a food market. This is a great place to be during winter months.

9. Urth Cafe

This is one of the Kardashian's favorite go-to restaurants on Melrose. Locals tend to love this place as well. It's most likely going to be 10-15 minute wait.

10. The Broad Museum

Be sure to check out this contemporary art museum, located in Downtown Los Angeles.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
