Indiana. Home, sweet home of nothing to do. Being the traveller I am, my feet get antsy but I live on a college budget and reside in Indiana. Do you know how hard that is? I always have a need to see something new but it is not always easy to catch a flight and have enough money to explore a new city. So, I made a list of 10 places that everyone can enjoy on a budget, without jumping on a plane, and are located in the sweet state of Indiana.

1. Cataract Falls

Cataract Falls is in Lieber State Recreation Area. It is named the largest waterfall in Indiana and definitely beautiful. Take a dip, take a selfie, take a shower! It is a must see.

2. Holiday World & Splashin' Safari

First, their fountain drinks are UNLIMITED. Second, parking is FREE. Third, THEY GIVE YOU SUN SCREEN. It is a college kids dream because they hand you the essentials to have a cheap, fun day. (Add a little something, something to those fountain drinks if you're the ultimate rebel. *You didn't hear that from me*)

3. Brown County

Brown County is a dream come true. The trees make it absolutely breath taking, the little shops make it so adorable, and the hiking trails make it entertaining. It is the perfect place for a date, friend trip, or family weekend!

4. Indiana Dunes

Indiana Dunes has the best beaches in Indiana. Yeah, you heard me right. BEACHES. well, lake beaches, but still beaches. There are loads of things to do during the day, like biking, hiking, sunbathing, or swimming. At night, you can choose to roam the area and enjoy what the nightlife has to offer!

5. Marengo Cave

Marengo Cave offers a variety of activities. You can go cave crawling, night walking, canoeing, gemstone mining, and more! It is deemed as a National Landmark and it one out of four caves in Indiana!

6. Kesling wetland and Farmstead

This place is perfect for all of you nature lovers! It is a 10-acre marsh and slough wetland community. The sunrise and sunset here are to die for.

7. Clifty Falls State Park

Not only is it a beautiful park of beautiful waterfalls but Clifty Falls State Park is home to some of the most popular events in Indiana! Some of the events are the July Regatta hydroplane boat race and the Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art.

8. Nappanee

Nappanee is small and quaint. It has that small town feel, yet is so beautiful. It is an Amish town and is known for its' hard working community. If you love history, good food, and insanely sweet people. This is your place.

9. East Pierhead Lighthouse

There may not be many tourist attractions around this area, this is the perfect place to run away to for a day and forget your worries. Bring a good book, 5 bucks for a coffee, or even a journal and watch the sunset. Bring a date and spend the night talking to this beautiful view.

10. Indianapolis, Indiana

Last, but not least. The good ol' Downtown. The night life is every college kids dream, the shopping is suited for Corinne from the Bachelor, and the view is unforgettable. Personally, I think Indy is one of the most underrated cities. I love to sit on the circle and drink a bottled soda from Rocket Fizz or walk along the canal. You can even walk to the top of the monument circle and get the view of the whole city. Indy has my heart, even though my feet will never stay still.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."
