10 Restaurants You Must-Try On The South Shore Of Long Island

The South Shore of Long Island is known to have many great restaurants whether they are on the water or not. These are just a few of my favorites near my hometown that I must visit every time I am home on break from college. It ranges from tacos, burgers, pizza, sushi, and seafood. If you are looking for a new place to eat or visiting for the weekend I would definitely go check these restaurants out!

1. Bubbas Burrito Bar, Islip.

If you are visiting Long Island or just looking for a good place to eat you have to check out Bubbas Burrito Bar. I swear the burritos are bigger then your face and are so delicious. They have tons of great options that I'm sure you will love. One of my favorites is the Land and Sea, it's a mix of steak and shrimp.

2. Swell Taco, Babylon.

If you are looking for the best fish taco look no more because you will find it at Swell Taco in Babylon. Nothing compares to this fish taco, I've had many others and there always just seems to be something missing. Once you try their fish taco no other fish taco will ever taste as good.

3. AJI 53, Bay Shore.

Aji 53 has some great lunch specials and deals for some of your favorite rolls and lunch boxes. One of my favorite rolls that I can't usually find anywhere else is the Tokyo roll. If you are looking for a little bit of everything I suggest the lunch box especially the chicken teriyaki one. It comes with dumplings, salad, soup, rice, California rolls, some vegetables, and of course teriyaki chicken.

4. Local Burger, Bay Shore.

Local Burger is fairly new to Bay Shore. It has an indoor outdoor feel, which is great for the summer. They have some unique burgers that you have to try! This includes the PB&B burger, which is peanut butter, bacon, and cheddar cheese. I know it sounds strange, but it is a must-try. For all those mac and cheese lovers out there this is the burger for you, Return of the Mac burger.

5. All American, Massapequa.

If you are looking for an authentic place to grab a burger and shake All American in Massapequa is the place to go. It is amazing during the summer if you are lucky to find a parking spot or park all the way down the block to get on line for your delicious burger and shake it is so worth it. On the left side of the building there's a counter that many people lean against to enjoy the outdoors and the company of friends as they eat.

6. Milk & Sugar, Bay Shore.

If you are looking for a cute little restaurant to go to Milk and Sugar is definitely the one! It is great for brunches and lunches. They have tons of different delicious options to chose from! If you still have room for dessert after all that food you definitely need to try their pastries.

7. Mamma Santina Pizza, Brightwaters.

Mamma Santina's has to be one of my favorite pizzas places on Long Island. Their Brooklyn Pies are to die for and same with their specialty slice Chicken Bacon Ranch.

8. The Pie At Salvatore's, Bay Shore.

One of the best things about Salvatore's is the garlic bread that is made like a pie. It is thinly sliced and made to perfection, there is no way you could be disappointed with it. Their specialty pies are just as amazing, I recommend if you are a bacon lover to get a pie covered in it.

9. Bayvue, Lindenhurst.

Looking for a good seafood restaurant, well look no more. The Bayvue is located on the water with a great indoor and outdoor patio. This is a perfect place to come to during the summer time if you are looking to enjoy some fresh air while you eat some great food.

10. Nicky's On The Bay, Bay Shore.

This is another great restaurant to eat at if you are looking to be outdoors while enjoying some great seafood. The fun thing about this place is that during the summer if you have a boat you can come by the water instead of driving on down. It makes the adventure and the meal even that more fun when you arrive by boat. You will have a great view throughout the entire meal.

P.S. These are just some of my favorite restaurants, trust me there are still so many more out there that I need to try!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
