The 10 pictures that you can pretty much find on any Marist students social media. You may not realize it, but at one point or another, we all fall into the stereotypical Marist college student trap.

1. That awkward first-week roomie pic, taken before you really even knew each other.

We all have them. Those “I’m posting a picture so all my followers can see that I'm at college” pictures. You may not be as close with your roomie as you were that first week, but she was a nice addition to your Insta.

2. Pic from syllabus week with a caption about being “sylly”.

Syllabus week, the week of all weeks at college, where you go out every night just because you can. Most of these pictures feature some kind of caption with a syllabus week pun.

3. Scenery picture.

Honestly, if there's not a picture of the rotunda, a sunset, or a river picture on your social media, do you even go to Marist?

4. Hallway picture with the BFF.

Go-to, classic picture. Usually happens during the pregame, so we all know that it’s near impossible to get a good one, but when you do, it’s golden and goes right up on the 'gram.

5. Picture in front of the brick wall at Union.

For some reason, if you’re at Union and you take a picture, it ALWAYS features a brick wall. If you are scrolling through your feed and see a brick wall, bingo, this person was most likely at Union last night. If any of you have managed to get a good picture at Darby’s, let me know, because I have yet to find the perfect spot.

6. Picture at some kind of sporting event decked out in Marist gear.

Let’s be real. You most likely did not watch whatever game it is that you were at. You were just there for the cute pic and pregame in the McCann parking lot.

7. Picture in front and/or inside the tree at Christmastime.

THE TREE. The tree we all know and love that gets lit during Christmastime. It becomes the grounds for the perfect Christmas picture with your friends, whether it be in front of the tree or literally inside of it.

8. Some picture from NYC.

Being that we are only a short train ride away from NYC, there is a high chance that your Instagram has a city picture. Most include pictures of Grand Central that are taken mid travel, a cute picture of you just doing your thing in the city, or the classic Sugar Factory drink pic.

9. Reunited pic of the squad from back home.

The picture with the OG BFF’s from home that usually gets thrown up during a weekend home or winter break. It usually has a caption saying something along the lines of “Reunited with the best!” or "Back at it!"

10. Random throwback.

That random picture that you have never gotten around to posting. What better time to post than when you’re studying for that big test tomorrow? Nothing like a good Insta to distract your mind.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
