On October 1, America's favorite sketch comedy show will be returning for its 42nd season. One of the most exciting things about fall is seeing who will be the celebrity host of "Saturday Night Live" every week. Here's a list of people who I personally want to see host this fall.
1. Kit Harington
Recommended for you
How is it that after six years of being arguably the most badass character on the most violent show on television, Jon Snow still has never hosted "Saturday Night Live?" After the controversy behind his "Is he dead or alive?" cliffhanger that kept audiences furious for a full year, he became a household name. The cast of "SNL" even performed wrote a sketch parodying his resurrection last season. Yet, the actor himself has never made an appearance on the show, and for that, I say shame, shame, shame (haha, get it?).
2. Peyton Manning
He's arguably one of the best football players of our time, he just won the most recent Super Bowl, of which he was the MVP, and now he's retired with nothing to do. How much more perfect of an opportunity to have Peyton Manning host "SNL" could there be? He has experience, having hosted once back in 2007 alongside musical guest Carrie Underwood. One of his most famed sketches was a digital short in which he threw a football as hard as he could at a child, who was supposed to catch it but only got pegged in the back, causing him to fall to the ground in pain. He has proven to be hilarious before, and with nothing better to do these days than make commercials for DirecTV, he can do it again.
3. Kanye West
Everyone loves Yeezy. Even if you say you don't love him, you probably still love him. Arguably the most successful hip-hop artist of our time, Kanye has been an awesome musical guest on the show before, but never has hosted. Just imagine the viewership of a Kanye-centric "SNL" episode. Every kid in America ages 0-25 would drop everything to watch Kanye in comedic acting roles on a sketch comedy show. Here's to hoping we see Kanye walk onto the stage this year to deliver his first opening monologue.
4. Neil Patrick Harris
Neil Patrick Harris hasn't done much since he wrapped up "How I Met Your Mother," but if there's anything I know about NPH, it's that when you put him on a stage, great things happen. You're no longer watching a performance, you're watching something more, something legendary. When Neil has a live show of any sort, it's no longer just a show; it's an experience. He turns the show into the funnest, most balls-to-the-wall experience he could possibly create. If you need further convincing, watch his opening number from the 2013 Tony Awards, which he hosted. That's why I think a Neil Patrick Harris episode of Saturday Night Live would be one of the most highly-rated episodes of the show in years.
5. Andrew Lincoln
Oh, how I want to see Rick Grimes walk out onto the floor of studio 8H and deliver a monologue. Six years of his ultra-serious character on "The Walking Dead" slay zombie after zombie after zombie would make basically anything he does on "Saturday Night Live" pure gold, at least in my opinion. It's a bit surprising that the main character of one of the most popular television shows of all time has never made an appearance on "SNL." That's why I think it needs to happen soon, because as the show just gets better and more popular, a hosting by Andrew Lincoln would be a real treat.
6. Beyoncé
She's been the musical guest numerous times, and she's even made a few appearances (remember the "Single Ladies" skit with Justin Timberlake?). Yet, the Queen Bee has never had an entire episode to herself. How can the woman who is arguably the queen of American pop music never have hosted "SNL?" I don't know why, but it's gotta happen, and soon, because I'd love to see what type of comedy chops she's got.
7. Leonardo DiCaprio
Another Hollywood legend who's never hosted "SNL." Everybody loves Leo. And, there's plenty of great material for a great Leonardo DiCaprio-based skit, like the running joke about how long it took him to finally achieve an Oscar. Or, I think all of America would love to see a skit that parodies "Titanic," starring Jack Dawson himself. The possibilities are endless. But it's a crime that, after all these years, DiCaprio has never hosted the show.
8. Evan Peters
I don't know about you guys, but I love "American Horror Story." Like, I've been waiting anxiously all year for the new season to start and I'm upset that two episodes into the sixth season and I still haven't seen a trace of Evan Peters. Every year, he manages to be my favorite character in each new season. He's a beloved cast member of one of America's favorite horror series and it would be a real treat for fans all across America to see him acting for laughs on a live stage.
9. Jamie Lee Curtis
The horror nerd in me is shining was beaming last year when I heard that Jamie Lee Curtis would be starring in the hit horror comedy "Scream Queens," which is returning for a second season this month. She has a special place in my heart, as well as in the hearts of multitudes of other horror fans, because she is THE scream queen, being the star of the arguably most classic slasher movie ever made, "Halloween." Since she's been making a comeback to the small screen, she would be a treat to watch for both old and new generations (perhaps even for a Halloween special).
10. The Kids from "Stranger Things"
This past summer, America fell in love with the five kids who starred in the smash hit Netflix mystery series, "Stranger Things." The group of five has already reached celebrity status, appearing on talk shows such as "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." They even made an appearance at the Emmy Awards this past weekend. After these live performances, there is no reason to say that they're too young to carry a full 90-minute episode of "SNL." I think there is nothing America would love more than for these kids to host the show this fall.
