10 People We Are Glad We Met

We meet many good and bad people throughout our lifetime. So many of the people we meet don't impact our lives in a significant way, so always remember to thank the ones who do. Here is a list of 10 people we are all glad we met:

1. Your mentor.
This person is usually a couple years older than you, but you talk to them about everything. You may not go out on the weekends with them, but you two talk on a daily basis, and they actually remind people of an older and more mature version of yourself. You practically strive to be like them (in a non creepy way, of course).

2. Your favorite nail, hair or eyebrow lady.
Whichever you may have (or maybe you're lucky enough to have all three), you can't thank her enough. She is a dream come true. You have been going to this lady for years, and she knows exactly how you want it done. She never messes up. The two of you have become so close, and you know everything about each other’s lives because you spend so much time in her shop. She always squeezes you in last minute and right when you leave you look forward to seeing her again.

3. Your best friend.
This girl is your No. 1. You tell her everything, and she tells you everything. She gives the best advice, and you can sit with her and do nothing for hours and still wouldn't be bored. You could not imagine life without this girl. Who would you cry to when your week went wrong, and who would you celebrate with if your week went right?! This chick is definitely maid of honor status. She’s just the best ever.

4. Your guy best friend.
He’s a lifesaver. You tell each other your relationship problems and, being of opposite sex, you guys can help each other out a little bit. You make him do girly things sometimes, like go shopping with you, which he hates, but does it with you anyways. Everyone admires your friendship with each other, and they always say things like, “Why don't you two just date already?” But, you and your best friend both now that would never happen because you two know too much information about one another for your own good.

5. Your bad influence friend.
This friend knows how to have fun. When you’re down and need to go out on a Monday night, hit this girl up. She is definitely ready to go out any night of the week. When you’re with her your wild side comes out. You’re ready to have a good night. Sometimes she ends up getting the both of you into a sticky situation and of course looks at you to get you guys out of it. But, hey you still love her!

6. Your roommates.
The only people you can stand to share a kitchen with. A lot of your friends are gross, and you could not imagine having to clean up after them. But, you and your roommates work well together. You're all pretty orderly and now living with them a couple years you guys know what to expect out of one another. There haven't been too many problems, and you all enjoy each other’s company.

7. Your class buddy.
This person always comes in clutch. You two have the same major and do so many class projects together. Your class buddy takes notes for you when you're not there and vice versa. You two definitely know how to help each other out. You can call this person the night before a paper is due and ask them 100 questions about it, and they seem to know what to do. Thank the lord for this class buddy!

8. Your favorite teacher.
This is the teacher that you still talk to after not being in their class for over a year or so. You are actually friends with this teacher. You and the teacher text to catch up on life and occasionally go and get lunch. You love hearing about their life and how their kids are doing. This teacher taught you so much, and you couldn't be more grateful to have them in your life.

9. Your ex-boyfriend.
This is the dude that taught you exactly what you do not want in a man. You should thank him for that. We all need to figure out what we like in a relationship, and he made it that much easier for you to know. Yeah, he sucked, but what ex-boyfriend didn’t? That’s why he’s your ex. Remember?

10. Your boyfriend.
This is the guy that you love and care so much about. You’re so happy to be with him, and he makes you a better person each day. Yes, it sounds lame, but you miss him even when you go on a short two-day vacation. You can definitely see possible marriage potential between the two of you. You love this guy, and he loves you.

Appreciate these 10 people in your life because if weren't for them, you wouldn't be where you are today. You go to these people in time of need and they are always there to help you. You have learned so much from these people and vice versa. So now take a moment and just send a simple thank you text to them. (Well, maybe not your ex, that might be a little awkward.)

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
