As everyone is getting out their pens and paper and making a resolution list for New Years, we all know deep down that those resolutions will most likely not be fully carried through. The funny part of these resolutions list is that 90 percent of the population will look somewhat similar. Some of the most overrated and out used resolutions include:
1. Working out
Sounds good in the moment as you're writing it down, but when the time comes most people will tend to skip paying the for gym membership and keep telling themselves they will commit to it eventually but never do.
2. Eating healthy
Another feel good resolution to write down. We all want to stay healthy and look good for the upcoming year. Honestly, if there was a choice of a salad or a piece of chocolate cake, I think most people would cave for unhealthier of the two.
3. Be nicer
This is one thing that I would hope most people would want to do everyday, rather than just start fresh. Being nice is fairly easy up until someone becomes rather rude towards you or a loved one. At the end of the day, if your personality just doesn't happen to include being the friendliest of souls, don't feel obligated to change yourself for the sake of others.
4. Saving money
Saving some extra cash for long term investment is one of the smartest things to do. But come on, when you're hungry it just sounds so good to rush to the nearest fast food restaurant or cafe and just stuff your face with delicious food. Food is a money killer.
5. Get better grades
Almost every student always has this on their New Year's resolution list. As awesome as it could be to get more focused, it is hard to rip a person from old habits.
6. Be more motivated/stop procrastinating
Almost laughable. Now who would rather work on a five page essay for school over binge watching your favorite Netflix TV show? There’s nothing wrong with procrastination as long as you get your task at hand done.
7. Be more adventurous
Spontaneous outings in a minivan with friends sounds like a blast, but we all need to remember that gas, for one, costs money. As do most places people tend to venture to.
8. Be clean/tidy
Keeping your room, apartment or car tidy might be pretty important. Although, unless the clutter bothers you, why change it?
9. Time management
Similar to procrastination, you don't necessarily need to manage your time as long as you efficiently get your work done.
10. Volunteering
Nowadays, people only volunteer for a certain reason whether it be to gain honor society hours or to finish community service hours. It is hard to find people to volunteer places out of the goodness of their hearts.
Be who you are! You don't need to make changes to yourself every year. Embrace who you truly are.
