We all know that every year at Halloween it's the same old costumes. Year after year there are always cliche costumes and the list grows every year. If you're going out this Halloween, here are a few costumes that you should probably avoid.

1. Harley Quinn

Ever since Suicide Squad came out there have been abundances of makeup tutorials on how to do your makeup just like her. Without a doubt there will be at least 3 of these at every party you go to. Not to mention that it's one of the easiest costumes to do considering you just have to pull your hair up in pig tails and throw on some blue and red makeup.

2. Slutty Cat/bunnies

This one's a no brainer. It's been done every year for as long as anyone can remember.

3. Risky Business

It's one of the most well known costumes and probably the easiest thing to get away with.

4. Charlie's Angels

Every girl group is or has done this in their lives.

5. Sports Girls

Whether it's going out and spending $50 on a fake jersey that says "Hustler" on the back or simply wearing a dudes, it's safe to say that this costume is also too overused.

6. Super Heros

Yeah wearing the corset tops and the cute little skirts are fun, but there's only one Batman and Robin, so let's leave it that way.

7. Witch

This costume has been used since we were kids. This is one of the most popular costumes of all time, so there's bound to be a ton of them around on Halloween.

8. Flapper

Okay let's be honest, this costume is super fun and it really lets you get all dolled up to go out on Halloween night, but it's also a super common costume.

9. Greek Goddess

This one is a very popular costume because of Greek culture at colleges. Ever hear of a toga party? It's just best to save it for one of those.

10. Pirate

Last, but not least a favorite of everyone at any age, the pirate. Females and males as well, will be dressed up Halloween night and going out on the town, so it's safe to say that this one is out of the question as well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
