If you're from Colorado, you know how unpredictable the weather can be. One day it could be sunny and 75 and the next it could be snowing. Whether you are outdoors hiking, exercising, or skiing or just need something to keep you warm on a daily basis, a jacket is essential because the weather can change in an instant. Since the weather is so unpredictable, it is necessary to have a jacket for any type of weather that could occur. Here are the top outerwear essentials you should have if you live in Colorado, all approved and worn by a Colorado native.

1. Ski Jacket

Even if you don't ski, having a ski jacket like this is essential in Colorado. It is perfect for when it snows or when you are hitting the slopes. Bonus: these jackets usually come as a 3 in 1 jacket that can be taken apart and worn 3 different ways as a windbreaker, light down jacket or the full ski jacket, so even though the price is higher than most jackets, it is worth the money.

2. Down Jacket

Perfect for: 30-40 degrees when it is not snowing but it is still too cold to wear something lighter.

3. Fleece Jacket

Perfect for: 50 degree days. It still keeps you warm, but you won't get too hot when you wear it.

4. Wind Breaker/ Rain Jacket

Perfect for: spring and fall weather that can be unpredictable. A rain jacket that is waterproof that can also be light enough to be worn as a windbreaker is perfect when you need a light jacket.

5. Vest

Perfect for: the fall days that are 60-70 degrees where you can layer a flannel or sweater underneath.

6. Wool Coat

Perfect for: When you need to stay warm but still want to look put together. Wool coats can be worn in 20-30 degree weather with a sweater underneath and still keep you warm.

7. Trench Coat

Perfect for: 60 degrees, especially in the spring and fall. Trench coats are a classic piece and are best worn in between seasons.

8. Leather Jacket

Perfect for: 50 degrees with a sweater or 60 degrees fall weather. Leather jackets are another classic piece that can be worn casually or dressed up.

9. Full-Zip Jacket

Perfect for: all occasions. This jacket can be worn when hiking in the summer or worn over workout clothes. Having a lightweight full-zip jacket is great for many kinds of weather or nights when the temperature drops and you need something light.

10. Sunglasses

Colorado gets over 300 days of sunshine, making sunglasses acceptable to wear with any kind of outerwear. Whether it is 30 degrees or sunny and 75, it will always be sunny enough for sunglasses.

Although the Colorado weather is unpredictable, it is some of the best weather that you cannot find anywhere else, making Colorado the best state to live in.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
