It’s no secret that dating is not what it used to be. Whether you’re looking for an unconventional start to a tinder date or simply looking to switch things up in your relationship, sometimes those textbook date ideas are exactly what we need to get sparks flying. For anyone looking to go back to the basics of dating, here are 10 date ideas to get you started.

1. The Drive In Movies

This one is as classic as it gets and is a nice change of scenery from your usual theatre. Although they are becoming harder to find now days, if you’re lucky enough to have one near you, definitely take advantage.

2. The Roller Rink/Ice Skating

Even if the last time you skated was during your elementary school days, skating is a great way to see each other in a completely new element. Even if you walk away from a few bruises on your butt, the memories and laughs you’ll have together will totally be worth it.

3. A Picnic in The Park

This is a very affordable and romantic (not to mention Instagram worthy) way to talk and enjoy each other’s company without the interruptions or wait times of a restaurant.

4. Bowling

This is either a chance for you both to show off your skills or build a little character trying to accept the fact that you just rolled your 5th gutter ball in a row. Bowling is a great way for you to bring out your competitive side and show each other what you got.

5. Find a View

Whether you take that drive up to the top of a mountain or even a parking garage in the city, sometimes the most memorable dates are the ones where you can sit back, listen to that Spotify playlist you worked REALLY hard on, and overlook the city while get to know each other a little better.

6.Local Events

If you live in a big city, chances are there’s something going on that you probably don’t know about. Check your local paper or look online to see if there’s any festivals or fairs going on in your area, you just might be surprised at all the events that would make great dates.

7. Concerts

If you’re both into music, or you’re just looking for something new a concert is a fun way to expose yourself to new music, or finally get to see your favorite artists with some company. While tickets to Beyoncé might not be in your budget, look around for local artists and give them chance. Who knows? They might just be the next Maroon 5.

8. Sporting Events

Even if sports aren’t exactly your thing, it’s always fun to expand your horizons and see what all the hype is about. Going to a baseball or football game is a great way to get in on all of the action while also spending quality time together.

9. Go to a Museum

Museums are often forgotten about in the world of dating and I think it’s time we bring them back into our lives. Whether you both take an interest in art, science, or history there’s more than likely a museum near you waiting to be explored. This is a great way to learn together and makes it very easy to keep the conversation interesting.

10. See a Play

Plays are incredibly understated and often times overlooked when it comes to date ideas. Improv shows and community theater are affordable and memorable ways to spend an evening out on the town. It even gives you both an excuse to dress up and show each other off!

Where will your next date be?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
