If you think that the fassion trends now are crazy, look back through history at some of the oddest trends:

1. Chopines

Once used to keep feet away from mud on the ground, it later became a way to show wealth and aristocracy.

2. Black Teeth

Popular in both Japan and Europe at one point, blackening your teeth was to show superiority and wealth.

3. Tapeworm Diet

People who wanted to lose weight would digest pills with tapeworms inside (which would consume the extra calories) and then when they got too big, you'd have to get them removed.

4. Lotus Feet

When girls were born in China and were around the ages of 4-7, they would have all their toes broken and were bound in cloth to stunt their growth. It also improved her chance of marriage.

5. Lead Powder

If your skin was paler, it meant you didn't have to spend as much time outside laboring and would symbolize how rich you were. However, it also caused some side effects, such as lead poisoning, inflammation and baldness.
