10 Noteworthy Netflix Shows

If you take a look at my Netflix queue, you would find almost every single Nicholas Sparks movie, various shows on HGTV and a list of 1980's classics such as Dirty Dancing and The Breakfast Club. While I absolutely love spending every ounce of my free time catching up on all of my favorite shows, I absolutely must highlight some Netflix shows that can't be missed.

Whether you are procrastinating an upcoming exam, winding down after a long day at work, or just looking for a new show that will actually be worth investing your time-- this is your go-to list.

1. Scandal:

This show has a little bit of something for everyone. Love, politics, and drama are just a few of the ever-present aspects of this outstanding show. Plus the creator of the show (Shonda Rhimes) also wrote Grey's Anatomy, so you know for sure it will be a winner.

2. Gilmore Girls:

This show follows beloved mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, along with the rest of their eclectic small town community. Once you finish all 7 seasons of this, make sure to tune in to the much-anticipated reunion season that will be coming to Netflix this November.

3. Fixer Upper:

Chip and Joanna Gaines are two Texan natives who seek out run-down homes, and then transform them into some of the most beautiful houses I've ever seen. Plus they are absolute #marriagegoals.

4. Gossip Girl:

Blake Lively. That is all.

5. F.r.i.e.n.d.s.:

This iconic group of pals will keep you laughing until your stomach hurts.

6. Orange Is The New Black:

This Emmy Award winning series is based off of the real-life story of Piper Kerman, and her experiences in a women's prison. All I know is that I would never like to get into an argument with any of them!

7. House of Cards:

For those of you who love Scandal, this series also follows Washington D.C.'s elite political community. Get ready to question everything about how our government is run.

8. New Girl:

With Zooey Deschanel as the leading actress, how could you go wrong?

9. Grey's Anatomy:

This one goes out to all of my future nursing friends. ;)

10. Making A Murderer:

If you haven't heard of this show, then it is highly likely that you having been living under some sort of rock for a while now. It follows the trial and conviction of Steven Avery, a lower-class man who is falsely accused of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen. This one is sure to keep you hanging on the edge of your seat.

Honorable mentions:

Gilmore Girls, "A Year in the Life": This reunion series of the classic show featuring the mother daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory, follows up on all of your favorite characters from Stars Hollow. Get ready to laugh, cry and reminisce as soon as this Netflix Original Series comes out on November 25th.

Stranger Things: If you loved American Horror Story, then this one's for you. Full of bizarre and somewhat chilling encounters, this show is one that will keep you coming back time and time again. After a young boy disappears, his mom, and police chief, and his friends must confront paranormal forces to get try and get him back. *shivers*

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
