1. "The Selection" by Kiera Cass
This may seem like a girly book, but I promise you that these are some tough girls being written about. The novel takes place in a dystopia-like world that has yet to fall apart. The main character, America Singer, is someone you can instantly relate to and grow to like.
2. "The False Prince" by Jennifer Nielsen
This book is one that leaves you guessing and grasping for answers. Once you think you know something, it immediately gets challenged and you are back to square one. It is the first in a series of three well written books.
3. "Half Bad" by Sally Green
This book is dark, but at the same time manages to be irresistible. The main character, Nathan, is the son of a white witch (good witch) and a black witch (bad witch). Since he was born he has faced problems, and as his 17th birthday draws near he needs to survive long enough to become a witch himself and finally have control over his own destiny.
4. "The Black Prism" by Brent Weeks
This is the first is a series of books about a boy whose life is about to change. There is a lot of adventure, lots of sword fighting, crooked villains, and colorful characters.
5. "The Wayfarers Redemption" by Sara Douglass
This is a fantasy book that can rival classics like "Lord of the Rings." Sara Douglass, the author, really has a way of making her characters so real and down to earth. The plot is a nail-biting concoction of twists and turns that make it almost impossible to set the book down.
6. "Outlaw" by Stephen Davies
This is a story about a privileged parkour-living British kid that gets kidnapped by a ruthless desert criminal. A tale filled with corruption, unexpected friendships, and an unexpected ending makes it worth reading.
7. "The Chronicles of Nick" by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Zombies, demons, vampires, and a smart mouthed Cajun Teen, what more could you want in a book series? Nick is a character you can really learn to love, even when he does get under your skin.
8. "The Glittering Court" by Richelle Mead
This book from the start is a lie. Well the life of the main character is a lie. She leaves her rich heritage and ends up getting caught in adventure, love, deception, and understanding.
9. "Matched" by Ally Condie
This book is nothing like I thought it would be. It is a dystopia that at first seems to be a future world that has succeeded in finding a system that works, but the farther the book goes, the more flaws become apparent.
10. "The Five Flavors of Dumb" by Antony John
A deaf girl who manages a rock band…do I need to say more? This is very much a coming of age novel that leaves you feeling inspired by the end.
