You've already been to New York many times and are out of touristy things to do? Or maybe you just really don't want to be "that tourist" anymore, but rather just live like a true New Yorker for a few days? Try these things to get a better glimpse into the city that never sleeps!
- Levain Bakery - This bakery has phenomenal cookies, which are so delicious that even a New Yorker will wait in line for over 30 minutes to get a hold of one.
- Ninth Street Espresso - Many New Yorkers claim this is the best coffee in all of New York City. Go to Chelsea Market and check it out!
- Peninsula across Bethesda Fountain - If you want a little more quiet time, check out this secret location. You can get there by walking on the trails northwest of the Central Park Boathouse.
- White Chocolate Bread from Maison Kayser - Maison Kayser has several locations in NYC. Go early! The white chocolate bread sells out quickly.
- Waterfalls in the North Woods of Central Park - People say New York has everything. They aren’t wrong. Head to the north of Central Park to see some beautiful waterfalls!
- CrossFit Box - Many New Yorkers are obsessed with CrossFit. Check out one of the gyms (called boxes). CrossFit NYC has the largest coaching staff of any CrossFit affiliate in the world, so it’s kind of the real deal.
- St. Mark’s Place - If you like the unconventional, this street is for you.
- Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center - If you want to chill out for the night and listen to some fantastic jazz music while enjoying a breathtaking view of Central Park, head to Dizzy’s!
- Hungarian Pastry Shop - This one is kind of amazing. Try their croissants! They might be better than in France!
- City Hall Loop - Take the 6 train to the final destination and stay in the train as it loops to head back uptown. You will see what used to be the first subway station in New York City. It was opened in 1904 and hasn’t been in operation since World War II, so you’re in for a real piece of history.
