Worship Songs... you gotta love them. But sometimes they can seem a bit cheesy and repetitive.

You want to spend some time listening to Christian music that will center you and let you worship through your earphones while walking to classes or studying in the library.

But sometimes all of the songs you have to choose from seem kind of lame. Christian music does not align with modern music tastes but instead forms its own separate category of cheesy lyrics and out-of-date background music. If you don't know what I'm talking about, turn on WBFJ or K-Love or whatever your local Christian radio station is.

Don't get me wrong, there are some artists and music that I love! Lauren Daigle!! Housefires!! They're literally fire! However, a majority of the Christian community may still not know that there are non-cheesy worship options that are actually nice to listen to. So here is a list of my favorite atypical worship songs:

1. On the Banks// Chris Renzema

'Cause your water's my redemption

Into your kingdom, your heart, God Most High

And your blood is the pow'r that breaks off my shackles

Ends all my battles, I find rest in You, Most High"

2. Turn// Future of Forestry

"Then morning rays through the haze

The golden blaze got a hold of you

It was a vision of light

That turned you around"

3. Sticks and Stones// Kings Kaleidescope

"Longing to give and taste forgiveness

Dying to live a pure religion

Settle the rush to chase submission

Open my eyes and soul to listen"

4. Losing My Religion// Lauren Daigle

"I'm losing my religion, and finding something new

'Cause I need something different, and different looks like You"

5. Let Your Blood Plead For Me// Sojourn

"Let your blood plead for me

Wash me clean

I believe, Lord, I believe

Your blood has covered me"

6. Melt My Soul To Love// Red Mountain Church

"The power, the sweetness of that voice,

My stony heart does move;

Makes me in Christ my Lord rejoice

And melts my soul to love"

7. Jumping from Jaded Heights// Kings Kaleidescope

"Show me every grace I lost the fight to see

I'm coming around

Remedy the piece of faith that broke in me"

8. Farther Along// Josh Garrels

"The good man dies, the bad man thrives

And Jesus cries because he loves 'em both

We're all castaways in need of rope"

9. Not in a Hurry// Will Reagan

"I'm learning to listen

Just to rest in Your nearness

I'm starting to notice

You are speaking"

10. Peace Like a River// Page CXVI

"come to the waters

watch it flow, with his love

where your heart won't wither

but grow"

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
