10. "Grey's Anatomy"
This show is available on Netflix from season one, but it is still running! As entertaining as this show is, personally I find it very sad and cry at least once every episode. It takes place in a hospital and follows a group of doctors since they were interns. You shadow them as they are in the OR and treating patients, as well as after they leave the hospital when they are dealing with personal issues. It's a great show, and super interesting if you're into science, but patients do die, so be careful when you're watching it!
9. "Lost"
When you first start watching this show, it seems like the cliché plot of a plane crash and a deserted island, but it is so much more. The farther you get into it, the more questions you have. It's super mysterious and gets you obsessed very quickly. It's not so much about the survival —even though there is some — but more about the secrets and mysteries of the island. Towards the end, it got a little bit too twisted and complicated for me, but until the last bit of it, it's super super interesting and fun to watch.
8. "Gossip Girl"
This is a very popular show, usually among girls. The story follows a group of friends on the Upper East Side of NYC and their life during and after high school. An anonymous online blogger narrates the show, but also plays a huge part that interacts with all the characters. Gossip and rumors are posted, and nobody knows who the source is. This is a very entertaining show to watch, although sometimes very frustrating because of the characters relationships —aka Chuck and Blaire — and the fact that you don't know who "Gossip Girl" is.
7. "Stranger Things"
This Netflix Original has been the hit of the summer. With only 8 episodes in the first season, and the second season on the way, this show has got viewers hooked! This is a story of a little boy being abducted, and how a mother, a police man, and his friends try to find him. Along the way, they learn about a secret government project, encounter a "special" little girl, and try to bring down a monster from a parallel world. This show incorporates some supernatural, sci-fi elements, which I'm usually not a fan of, but it is so balanced and engaging that you get completely enthralled in the story.
6. "Carrie Diaries"
This is a prequel to the iconic "Sex in the City." Although, never having seen the original, I didn't even realize that until I looked up the show after finishing it in two days. This show was canceled after only two seasons — um why? — but is jam-packed with adventure and romance. Carrie, a high school student in Connecticut, gets an internship at a magazine in New York and goes there on the weekends to work. Along the way, she makes friends, falls in love and makes unforgettable memories. Also, not complaining about watching Austin Butler on the small screen!
5. "Criminal Minds"
There are many criminal and law shows out there, but this is by far my favorite. This show has one case each episode and follows a group of FBI agents as they try to solve it. It can get a bit creepy and graphic at times, but unlike most other shows of this nature, they solve the case by thinking about the criminal's psychology and analyze the behavior. This will without a doubt keep you at the edge of your seat.
4. "Parks and Recreation"
This comedy is about a parks and rec department in Pawnee, Indiana. The characters are all hilarious, and the show is very well written. It't kind of like an upbeat version of "The Office." This is one of the very few shows that actually make me laugh out loud. If you're looking for a laugh, definitely watch this.
3. "One Tree Hill"
This show follows a group of high school friends and how they grow up and live their lives after high school. This is a classic drama about love, friendships and life. It's very easy to watch, and every episode will be sure to keep you engaged and entertained.
2. "Glee"
This is a classic, well-known show that ended recently after the death of Cory Monteith (RIP). This show is about a group of students who are in their high school glee club. They form a tight bond, and make their way from being the losers of the school to national champions. This is a touching, inspirational story filled with fun characters and is fun and light to watch.
1. "Gilmore Girls"
This show is a classic from the early 2000's that has a Netflix revival coming in late November this year. It tells a story of the lives of two women, mother and daughter, living in rural Connecticut. In the small town, there is a bouquet of flamboyant characters, who all take part to make the girls' lives a little bit crazier. Lorelai, the mother, gave birth to Rory at 16 and left her wealthy parents to live on her own. Rory, now a teenager, is a smart, witty girl finding her way through life with the help of her mother, friends, and grandparents. This show is guaranteed to make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. It is a personal favorite, so much that I have watched it multiple times through!
