10 Netflix Shows You Should Watch
huffingtonpost.com

Created in 1997 in Scotts Valley, California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings, Netflix has become a worldwide sensation that is used by people in many different countries to view various categories of shows, movies and documentaries. Now that summer has arrived and school is finished the best thing you could possibly do is relax, kick back onto your big comfy bed and get ready to bingewatch some Netflix. Here is a list of 10 TV shows on Netflix that I recommend.

1. "Grey's Anatomy"

"Grey's Anatomy" is a medical drama series that takes place in Seattle. "Grey's Anatomy" currently has 12 seasons and counting. "Grey's Anatomy" or simply "Grey's" is focused on the personal and professional lives of numerous surgeons. As you watch this show, you will become emotionally invested as the characters encounter deaths, relationships, new beginnings, sad endings. You will probably have an abundance of emotions that will range from anger, fear, happiness, heart break, confusion and, most of all, sadness. This is the type of heart-racing show where you become attached to the characters and feel as if you know them. Personally, this is one of my absolute favorite shows of all time and I believe anyone who watches it will be instantly hooked.

2. "One Tree Hill"

"One Tree Hill" starts out as a captivating story about two estranged half-brothers with the same father, who abandoned one son and raised the other. "One Tree Hill" takes place in a fictional town called Tree Hill, North Carolina.
As the show progresses, the story becomes much more than just about the brothers, it begins to develop storylines and conflicts for the people that surround them as well, such as family and friends. This show includes a little bit of everything: brotherhood, heartbreak, death, relationships, action, murder and friendship. This show has taught numerous life lessons to its fans over the years. Although it finished its final season in 2012, it still continues to inspire teenagers today. I recently finished this series and it gave me a new perspective.

3. "Gossip Girl"

"Gossip Girl" is a drama that takes place in New York City. This show finished its sixth season in 2012. "Gossip Girl" is about a group of well-privileged teenagers who are harassed online by a mysterious person that refers to themselves as "Gossip Girl." The self-proclaimed "gossip girl" creates a blog about the Upper East Side's richest/ most popular teens and spills their dark secrets for the whole world to see. The theme of this show includes: manipulation, secrets, sex, friendship, deception, darkness, gossip and twisted love. This group of rich individuals will stop at nothing to get what they want no matter the cost. This show is absolutely intriguing to watch as it keeps you on your toes and the drama is just too juicy not to obsess over.

4. "How to Get Away with Murder"

"How to Get Away with Murder" is a recent show with only two seasons and continuing. This dark thriller is based on a law professor who teaches at a university in Philadelphia. While she teaches law, she is not only a professor but an actual lawyer who offers jobs to a group of students in one of her classes at her office. While most crime shows focus on lawyers who get good clients that are truly not guilty, this show is very unique - because the characters take on impossible cases where their clients are generally guilty of the accusations placed upon them. Therefore, it is their job to help them get away with their crimes. This show will give you goosebumps all over your body because it is that intense.

5. "Supernatural"

"Supernatural" is a fantasy horror show that has 11 seasons and is currently going onto 12. This show is about two brothers who have not had a normal childhood and grew up to become monster hunters. The show is about brotherhood, friendship, saving lives and the journeys that the two brothers must face. If you enjoy seeing vampires, werewolves and other mystical creatures, this show will be a joy to watch. It also does not hurt that every single male in this show is easy on the eyes.

6. "American Horror Story" seasons 1-3 and five.

"American Horror Story" is a horror show that has a different storyline and characters in each season. Seasons 1-3 and five are incredible. In my humble opinion, season 4 is not even worth watching so please do not waste your time. Season one is called "American Horror Story: Murder House." This season is based on a family moving into a new home that is filled with ghosts. This season's themes are murder, suicide, affairs and unconventional love. Season two is titled "American Horror Story: Asylum." The season is based on a man wrongfully admitted into an asylum, for the wrongful accusation of being a serial killer, while a journalist tries to uncover the secrets of the asylum. This season is very gory and probably the scariest one in my opinion. Season three is called "American Horror Story: Coven" which tells the story of a mansion that is full of witches and their experiences. Lastly, season five is titled "American Horror Story: Hotel." This season is based on a hotel in California that has numerous ghosts living in it and if a person dies in this hotel, their ghost still lives and cannot escape it. This season has very intriguing storylines that tell the story of several people's deaths and their redemption.

7. "Revenge"

"Revenge" is a drama that centers around a young woman whose father was kidnapped and killed when she was a child. Now that she is a grown woman and got out of foster care, she has a thirst for revenge. During the course of the show, this woman changes her identity completely, manipulates others and fights to clear her father's name while destroying every single person involved in taking her father away from her. This show is as intense as a show can get and ended after only four seasons. In my opinion, the show should have continued, although the ending was amazing.

8."Orange Is the New Black"

"Orange Is the New Black" has become a Netflix Original hit sensation, and if you have not started watching it, you should! This four season dramedy show captures the lives of women in a women's prison and has been controversial due to the fact that it is very graphic when it comes to its sex scenes. Although it's graphic, the story lines are amazing. From the comedy side of the show to the dramatic side of drugs, romance, murder, rape and racism, this show will keep you wanting more.

9. "How I Met Your Mother"

"How I Met your Mother" is an American sitcom that finished with nine hilarious seasons. The entire show is a story being told by a father to his kids, all leading up to how he met their mother. The storyline is full of ups and downs whether it comes to friendships or romantic relationships but it was all about finding the right one for him. The show will make you cry with laughter and you will feel connected with the characters because they are all relatable and funny. If you are looking for a light sitcom with an amazing storyline, this is definitely for you.

10. "Scandal"

"Scandal" is a political thriller which currently has six seasons. This show is based on a powerful woman who works to help people get out of situations, whether they are politicians or regular people. While she helps people with their issues, she is having an affair with the president of the United States. This show is an action-packed, intense, romantic and shocking series that is full of lies, power, control and mystery.

There are hundreds of shows on Netflix that are available for you to watch. These 10 shows are my all time favorites and I believe they are worth watching. Enjoy your summer and long live binge-watching!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
