The summer is a primary time to catch up on your Netflix list, and it's also the time to find your latest television obsession. That being said, here are 10 television shows to cure your boredom this summer.

If you liked "X-Files", try:

1. "Twin Peaks"

Number of Seasons: 2 (30 episodes in total)

In honor of the "Twin Peaks" revival, I would greatly recommend that you introduce yourself with the original cult hit. The plot follows the town of Twin Peaks, and the events that occur after the murder of a local teenage girl, Laura Palmer. Determining a genre for it is rather difficult; in fact, "Twin Peaks" is an opera, a crime drama, a thriller, and even a comedy. Possibly the most impressive aspect of the show is the huge cast of characters that it surrounds. Following the shows’s rich and engaging storytelling is what so easily captured audiences when it first aired, and it for this reason that I’d recommend it to you.

If you liked "Parks and Recreation", try:

2. "The Office"

Number of Seasons: 9 (188 episodes in total)

To keep "The Office" off this list would, honestly, be a mistake. "The Office" is such a ridiculous show, but its comedy remains consistent. And, despite its ridiculousness, it's strangely endearing. For an entertaining and easy-going watch, I would recommend this. With such a huge fanbase, it's likely that you've already seen it; however, if you haven't, do not miss out.

If you liked "Arrested Development", try:

3. "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia"

Number of Seasons: 14 (153 episodes in total)

"It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is, hands-down, one of the funniest television shows I've seen. The plot is simple; it follows five friends who own a bar. However, it is not the plot that makes the show what it is. Instead, it is the characters that make the show so hilarious, who are all completely unaware of how awful they are. Although the humor can be somewhat dark, the show is often known to address certain political and social trends that give it a unique intelligence. And Danny Devito is in the cast, so that alone is worth the watch.

If you liked "American Horror Story", try:

4. "Black Mirror"

Number of Seasons: 3 (13 episodes in total)

"Black Mirror" is a show so unlike its kind; it's an anthology series based on the "dark side" of technology in modern society. Possibly the most impressive aspect of the show is the huge amount of contributors and actors involved. Most of them are well-known in the world of cinema and television, and this alone distinguishes it. Some familiar names you might recognize are directors Joe Wright and Jodie Foster, and actors Jon Hamm, Hayley Atwell, and Daniel Kaluuya.

If you liked "Sense8", try:

5. "The OA"

Number of Seasons: 1 (10 episodes in total)

A Netflix original show, "The OA", follows Prairie Johnson once she returns home from a 7-year disappearance. Much to the community's shock, and to her parents, Prairie returns with perfect eyesight after previously being blind. "The OA" is a perfect example of profound storytelling. Both outlandish and surprising, "The OA" is an ideal recommendation for fans of science fiction and drama alike.

If you liked "Hemlock Grove", try:

6. "Stranger Things"

Number of Seasons: 1 (8 episodes in total)

I haven't stopped talking about "Stranger Things" since it was released last July. In the show, the mysterious disappearance of a Will Byers causes his closest friends and family to begin an investigation to hopefully find him. Although I won't give away any spoilers, the show is not one-dimensional in any sense; the rich characters, cast by talented child-actors, are such a joy to watch. If you enjoy science fiction, 80s films, or merely enjoy good storytelling, "Stranger Things" is for you.

If you liked "Scream Queens", try:

7. "Santa Clarita Diet"

Number of Seasons: 1 (10 episodes in total)

In this horror-comedy, Drew Barrymore stars as real estate agent that undergoes a bizarre transformation in which she spontaneously develops a cannibalistic appetite. I know it's absurd, but it's incredibly self-aware of how absurd it is. It's quirky, quick-witted, and addicting to watch. If you're looking for something that's easy to watch and not too emotional, I'd recommend this; however, there is a fair amount of gore, so if you're easily grossed out, I'd keep scrolling.

If you liked "Gilmore Girls", try:

8. "Jane the Virgin"

Number of Seasons: 2 (44 episodes in total)

"Jane the Virgin" is a comedy telenovela that surrounds the life of Jane Villanueva, who became pregnant after an accidental artificial insemination. The show's primary focus is the love triangle between her baby's father, Rafael, and her current boyfriend, Michael. "Jane the Virgin" is a well-rounded show, and I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. For something so comedic, it can also be unbelievably emotional, and it'll have you engaged as soon as the first episode ends.

If you liked "10 Things I Hate About You", try:

9. "Freaks and Geeks"

Number of Seasons: 1 (18 episodes in total)

When "Freaks and Geeks" was canceled just after its first season, fans of the series were understandably upset. The show's primary characters, siblings Lindsay and Sam Weir, both struggle to endure high school. The plot is a familiar one, but I'd still recommend it for fans of 90s television. The show is now praised for being the platform for several future stars, including James Franco, Seth Rogan, and Jason Segel.

If you liked "13 Reasons Why", try:

10. "Riverdale"

Number of Seasons: 1 (13 episodes in total)

Although "Riverdale" is based primarily on the Archie comics, it's in a league entirely of its own. It's a drama that follows the characters of Riverdale, but also the imperfections in the town's seemingly perfect facade. Overall, "Riverdale" is an easy, effortless watch, but it still remains intriguing. For fans of teen-based dramas, this is a great new obsession.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
