The best feeling about coming home for winter break finally being done. A semester has ended, the weight of finals is off your shoulders, and you no longer have all the stress that comes with finishing up classes. While you're not catching up on your sleep, you may find you need some new shows to watch on Netflix. Here are some new shows to watch while you're relaxing on your couch over break:
1. Master of None
This Netflix original series is seriously underrated. Created by Aziz Ansari, Master of None follows Dev, an actor in New York City. This comedy follows very relatable storylines and throws in jokes when you least expect to make this not only a personal favorite but a family favorite as well. It's just two seasons, so it's easy to binge in about three days, two if you are really trying.
2. Black Mirror
This show is AMAZING you guys! Each episode is different, but the overall theme of the series is futuristic, showing the dark side advances in technology can bring us. One of my favorite parts of Black Mirror is that they take a concept, like robot bees to replace the dying bee population, and escalate it in such a captivating way. If you're planning on binging, binge soon, the new season comes out December 29th.
3. Ozark
Jason Bateman stars in this crime thriller. Ozark is about Marty who secretly launders money for a drug cartel in Mexico. Marty has to move his family from Chicago to Lake of the Ozarks to throw the police off the scent, and you can sense the tension in the show. The show only has one season but will get you hooked after one or two episodes.
4. The Great British Baking Show
If you're a fan of British shows, baking shows, competition shows, or all of the above, then this show is for you. I was watching this show once with family, and the first comment made was that the show was very British, followed by a second comment about ten minutes later saying the show was really good. Next thing you know it we are debating over who's scones were the best. It's quickly additive.
5. The Crown
Speaking of British shows, you should add The Crown to your list as well. This show follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II, who's the current Queen of England, as she begins her reign over the country. Not only is this show growing a large fan base quickly, but just last year they won the Golden Globe for Best New Television Series - Drama, along with many other awards.
6. Shameless
Shameless is backed by a HUGE fanbase, and gets recommended to me by everyone I know recently. The show follows an alcoholic dad and his six kids as they cope with him. This comedy highlights the dysfunctional family as we see them learn and grow, despite how little they have.
7. American Crime Story: The People Vs. OJ Simpson
This show received 22 EMMY NOMINATIONS, winning 9 which is more than any other show! Also, David Schwimmer stars along with Sarah Paulson. Need I say more? The show follows the OJ Simpson trial and does a very good job of following the true storyline while keeping you on the edge of your seat. The next season of American Crime Story involves the assassination of Gianni Versace!
8. Riverdale
Riverdale is based on the characters in Archie Comics and has a grown in popularity so much that many Halloween costumes were even inspired by the show. Cole Sprouse acts in the series, and this teen drama follows the investigation of a murder, and the whole town gets involved.
9. American Horror Story
American Horror Story is fantastic. Each season follows a different storyline from various time periods, and recently the director revealed the seasons were connected. The series blends humor with dark and twisted situations expertly, proving why it's been well recieved by all.
10. That 70's Show
OK, so hear me out: I've never seen That 70's Show until just recently. Not only is it SUPER funny, but it's really nice to watch a funny, light show that I haven't seen before. If you've already seen this show too many times, try finding a popular show you've never seen like The Office, Parks and Rec., or Family Guy and check it out! Another option would be a show you've never watched in order; pick one out and watch it from start to finish! This is what
