Take a trip back to your childhood with these classics:
1. The Lion King (1994)
One of the most tear jerking and memorable Disney movies of all time. Not only was the first movie one to love forever, but the series as well that included The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride (1998) and The Lion King 1 ½ (2004). This movie was based off of the idea of Hamlet.
2. Hercules (1997)
Hercules was said to be the son of Zeus and the human Alcmene who was well known for his incredible strength and pervasive journey’s. The cartoon tells a story of a baby that was taken by Hades henchmen but then ended up on Earth with a mortal family who raised him as their own. Throughout his life he was treated like a freak until he fought to save the lives on both of his worlds and falls in love with a mortal by the name of Megara or Meg for short.
3. The Black Cauldron (1985)
This movie was not given as much credit as it should have; in my opinion, as someone who has grown up watching and reciting every line of this movie. The Black Cauldron takes place in the dark ages of a mythical land called Prydain where an evil by the name of the Horned King hopes to conquer the world with the power of a magical cauldron. In reaction to this Taran, whom is a young pig keeper, looks to prevent this from happening and acts to destroy the cauldron with the help of a princess named Eilonwy and a creature named Gurgi.
4. Lady and The Tramp (1955)
The total
‘bad boy is only good for his good girl’ romance, cartoon movie that had kids
completely obsessed. A movie that teaches girls that you should never change yourself in order to be with someone you love. If they truly love you, they'll fight for you and, no matter what, still be there in the end.
5. Peter Pan (1953)
Wendy and her
brothers are brought into the magical world of Neverland by a hero whom,
throughout their childhood, was a hero told in their stories. He constantly
fights the evil Captain Hook who wishes to destroy him and use his fairy
friend, Tinkerbell, for her magic. Peter Pan was said to be an angel who took
kids to heaven soon after they passed.
6. Bambi (1942)
Bambi was a simple childhood film that is about a young white-tailed deer, his parents, and his friends Thumper, Flower, and Faline (a childhood friend and future partner for Bambi). I would tell you what happens next, but you have to watch it to find out!
7. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
One of the first films that taught kids that a good personality goes way above apretty face. This film is centered around Quasimodo, a deformed bell ringer who struggles to be accepted by society (oh how can we relate).
8. The Sword in the Stone (1963)
This film just so happened to be the last animated film that Disney had released before Walt Disney’s death. The plot is centered around the death of the King of England Arthur, a 12-year-old orphan, who is raised by a wizard named Merlin and is declared king by pulling an in scripted sword from an anvil. This film is a definite, must see movie!
9. Beauty and the Beast (1991)
This movie was one of the few (such as Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Little Mermaid, etc.) that had little girls wishing for their own prince charming and happy ending. Yes, this movie has the semi-same idea as Lady and the Tramp; except that this movie’s main concept was to promote the motto “don’t judge a book by its cover”.10. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
This movie was either one you’ve watched a thousand times or not at all. Atlantis was Disney’s first animated science fiction film ever made. The film is about a young man, Milo Thatch, who finds a journal that leads him and group of money-grubbing people to the lost city of Atlantis. There’s also a twist in romance that you possibly never saw coming!
