10 Movies To Watch Instead Of Studying For Finals

Ahhhh finals are here and I'm drowning in school!!! Send help and comfort food! If you're like me, you're a great procrastinator and a stress crier. You still have a few days until the 20 page paper on when-did-we-learn-this and you're final exam for that class you're failing isn't tomorrow so you have time to watch all the movies on Netflix instead of doing your work. Here are some of the best movies to watch instead of studying for your finals!

1.) Clueless

At this time of the school year, we all wish we could negotiate our grades like Cher can. With its perfect 90's soundtrack it is smart, funny, and appealing. Plus, it is probably the only real good Paul Rudd movie.

2.) The Goonies

Everyone loves this movie. It's got the truffle shuffle, Mouth, the scene where they break the statue's dick, puzzles and booby traps, and endless kid adventure. It has the picture-perfect ending that every 80s film needs. Only downside- it's not on Netflix.

3.) Dead Poet Society

This movie will make you feel as if you can do anything and every thing that you want. It is packed with inspiration with Robin Williams as the lead role. Need I say more. Anything with Robin Williams in it, is a great way to spend some time watching. Carpe diem.

4.) Lilo and Stitch

It is literally all about love and its funny. If you haven't seen it in a few years, trust me, you'll still laugh at the jokes made and feel the love radiate through you. How knows, you may even tear up-- no judgement.

5.) Perks of Being a Wallflower

This movie makes you feel infinite and makes you believe in yourself (especially good if you're feeling low about your grades). This movie makes you realize that sometimes it is okay to be below average. Not everything is meant for you-- you're not supposed to be able to succeed at everything. That just wouldn't be fair.

6.) Donnie Darko

Fair warning: the bunny rabbit is wicked creepy and the movie is sort of a mind-fuck. However, it is still an amazing movie. Even if you've seen it before, it is well worth the second watch to try and understand it better.

7.) When Harry Met Sally

By far, my favorite romantic comedy. Somehow, it manages to whisk me away ever time into happiness. The "I''ll have what she's having" line gets me every single time, as does Meg Ryan's perfect fake orgasm in the packed restaurant. This is the quintessential rom-com of the 80s and still deserves praise to this day. The wit and charm combined with the dialogue, and the banter and charisma that Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal brought, strikes a cord with romance lovers everywhere.

8.) Back to the Future

The script is seamless. No scene is unnecessary and everything contributes to pushing the story further. The dialogue is perfect and Michael J. Fox is the perfect Marty McFly. The scene where Doc hangs from the clock tower always puts a grin on my face and the catchphrases in this movie are still usable. Plus, it's got a pretty cool car.

9.) 10 Things I Hate About You

The quotes are endless and the aesthetic is perfect. Plus, Heath Ledger is in it so you have to watch it instead of making flashcards for your chemistry test. The movie will make you laugh, maybe cry depending on how emotional you are (dude, I cried when I watched it two weeks ago), and want to play paintball. I can never decide what I like more about the ending: when Heath Ledger apologies with a guitar or Julia Stiles hair in that huge braid.

10.) The Parent Trap

This movie made me wish I had a long lost twin that I would meet at camp one summer. Sadly, it never happened but I'm okay with that since my lil sis is pretty great. How can this movie not make you happy? It is the perfect movie to watch when feeling down and stressed. Just make sure you grab the Oreos and peanut butter first!

Good luck with your finals and try not to stress and procrastinate too much! Remember, home and winter break are right around the corner! You can do this!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
