We have all had those nights where we just want to stay in and chill with our friends and watch a movie that will make us feel a lot better about ourselves. So, we bust out the movies and search through them, carefully analyzing our options. The cork from the wine has been popped off and the glasses are poured. Naturally, we gravitate towards the romantic comedies and from there it’s like "Sophie’s Choice." Here are the top 10 movies to watch with your friends on wine and movie night!

10. "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"

The classic tale of how true love always prevails. It’s a story following Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) who thinks she can make a man leave her in 10 days, and Ben Berry (Matthew McConaughey) who thinks he can make a girl fall in love with him in 10 days. As you probably guessed, they meet each other and well, you can figure out the rest from there.

9. "The Proposal"

This movie is along the same lines as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" but slightly different. Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is a successful editor for a large publishing house that Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) works at. However, Margaret is not a legal citizen in the United States and she is threatened to be deported, so guess who stepped in? Yup, Ryan Reynolds. The story follows their wild ride through their situation and eventually they fall in love. This movie is the perfect combination between romance and comedy.

8. "Titanic"

Come on, you knew this movie would make it in the list. Watching young Leonardo DiCaprio run around and be vivacious and youthful while slowly falling in love with Kate Winslet, who is unhappily engaged to someone else. This movie is 100 percent romance, and you will love every minute of it. Even if you don’t, just watch the lovely Leo be his adorable self. If this movie doesn’t get you in your feelings, I don’t know what will.

7. "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"

Believe it or not, this movie is a romcom, but it does not feel like one at all. Watching this movie with your friends will guarantee a night of laughter. Seeing the interaction between Toula (Nia Vardalos) and her eccentric, very Greek family is hilarious, but throw in Ian (John Corbett) and his proper, cookie-cutter family and you have side pains from laughing so hard. In the midst of all the hysterics, there is a sprinkle of love and bam, the romcom world is in balance.

6. "Music and Lyrics"

An oldie but a classic! In this movie, young Drew Barrymore helps a famous pop singer (Hugh Grant) write a song to help save his career. There are some laughs and cries but in the end, love prevails (well duh, it’s a romcom). And even if the movie doesn’t interest you, Hugh Grant is not difficult to look at.

5. "Grease"

Another classic movie to watch with the girls. It’s filled with humor and romance, not to mention the countless sing along opportunities. Even though it was made in the 70s, it is still 100 percent relatable to our generation today. In this movie, bad boy Danny (young John Travolta) falls in love with good girl exchange student Sandy (Olivia Newton-John). This movie takes you through their high school relationship and how it affects their friendships with other people.

4. "The Breakfast Club"

Straying away from the romantic comedies, "The Breakfast Club"is another great movie to watch on a night with great friends. This movie is one where every type of person has a character to identify to. So, if you need to reminisce about the good old high school days, The Breakfast Club is the go-to movie.

3. "Love Actually"

And back to the romcoms! "Love Actually" follows nine different stories that all revolve around love, so if you are ever in a situation involving love, there’s bound to be the same or a similar situation in this movie. While it does combine comedy and romance, there is a bit of drama (and a lot of Hugh Grant…hubba hubba).

2. "10 Things I Hate About You"

Taking place in the late 90s, this movie is a blast from the past. It follows an antisocial high school girl who absolutely hates anything and everything, and doesn’t believe in love. And then, one guy (the man, the myth, the legend: Heath Ledger) was able to turn that all around. This movie is great to watch to reinstall your faith in love.

1. "Pretty Woman"

This movie follows two people from two different walks of life and proves that opposites really do attract. In this movie, an LA prostitute and a wealthy businessman end up getting together and realizing their commonalities and like the ending of all romantic comedies, they end up falling in love. While this movie different than other romantic comedies, it is all the same in the end.

So, if you end up having a wine and movie night with your friends, these are the top 10 suggestions for you, but as long as you stay in the realm of a romantic comedy, it should be a successful night.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
