10 Movies That Spread Christmas Cheer

From December 1st to the 31st you can catch me decked out in as much christmas apparel as ever. This time of the year truly is something magical and while I am always in the mood for some cheer here are my top 10 Christmas Movie picks that will always leave you in the mood for some eggnog, cookies, and wrapping some gifts to go under the tree!

10. The Santa Clause:

Who doesn't like watching Tim Allen fall off of a rooftop, get silver hair, oh and my favorite gain like 80+ lbs? Because same, I am right there with you.

9. Christmas with the Kranks:

It’s nice to know that my family isn’t the only entirely delusional and dysfunctional that exists.

8. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation:

“Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. Happy Hanukkah."

7. It’s a Wonderful Life:

In the midst of all that dysfunction, “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a beautiful reminder that there is so much more to the hustle and bustle of Christmas.

6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer:

Rudolph is out here teaching one of the greatest lessons. If stifled by your parents support, let your nose shine and impress the hell out of the big guy.

5. A Charlie Brown Christmas:

“I know nobody likes me. Why do we have to have a holiday season to emphasize it?”

4. Home Alone 1, 2, and 3:

The best way to spread Christmas Cheer is to watch two failing robbers continuously get injured by a pre-teen.

3. Elf:

SANTA!!!!!

2. A Christmas Story:

Once my family watched this movie on a continuous loop for what felt like 30 years, but really it was just 15 hours

1. Dr. Seuss’: How the Grinch Stole Christmas:

However you prefer it, the 1966 animated version or the 2000 acted version. No one can deny that this movie doesn't just scream Christmas!

To Wrap this up, pun intended, regardless if your favorite Christmas movie made the cut or not I hope you find something that brings you tons and tons of Christmas Cheer. Wear ugly sweaters, make cookies, but mostly enjoy this time off from school. I wish you a Merry Christmas and to all a good night!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
