Throughout life, there are many ups and downs. I know that whenever I am down, I can definitely count on music to make me feel better. If you are ever down and need a good motivational song to start off your day, these are definitely the ten that I recommend!

1. "Scars To Your Beautiful" - Alessia Cara

This is a song is all about embracing who you are. As Alessia puts it, "you are beautiful just the way you are and don’t have to change that for anyone else."

2. "Fighter" - Christina Aguiler

This song is all about allowing those that have hurt you to only make you stronger. Thank them for making you a fighter!

3. "Schoolin’ Life" - Beyoncé

Beyoncé continues to slay by teaching all of us to embrace our inner crazy! Be proud of who you are!

4. "Confident" - Demi Lovato

Demi teaches us that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being confident in who you are. This is also a very catchy tune with a really good beat behind it!

5. "Here Comes The Sun" - The Beatles

I had to throw The Beatles into this mix because this song always brightens my mood. The sun will always come up and everything is going to be okay in the end.

6. "Just The Way You Are" - Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars teaches us in this song that you are amazing, “just the way you are.” Don’t ever change!

7. "Try" - Colbie Caillat

Colbie makes us feel so special in this song. “You don’t have to try so hard, you don’t have to bend until you break.” Embrace YOU because YOU are amazing.

8. "Keep Your Head Up" - Andy Grammer

Through all of the hard times, I listen to this song to, as the lyrics put it best, “keep your head up.” Yes, troublesome times are going to come along, but always think positively!

9. "Titanium (feat. Sia)" - David Guetta & Sia

This song can be put best by these words, that you should always remember. “You shoot me down, but I won’t fall. I am titanium.” Listen to this song whenever you are down and you will definitely feel better afterwards.

10. "I Gotta Feeling" - Black Eyed Peas

This song has a great dance beat and it’s a song to make sure you know that your night is going to be a good one! Have fun and let loose from the stress you are feeling!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
