It's the time of year where every poor, tired, and hungry student is lacking the motivation and energy to crawl out of bed -- let alone attend class. When the weight of yesterday and the stress of tomorrow is constantly on the mind, there is difficulty in finding motivation. We are always pushing our own limits and testing new boundaries to see how far we can go. At times, we do find our limits, and we come across a burnout. Burnout simply means that we have become mentally and physically exhausted through overexerting energy into social life, school, work, and extracurriculars. Finding that perfect balance in life is hard, however, it is a learning process we all go through. So when is it too much or not enough? The academic year is almost to an end, so here are some motivational quotes we all need to hear right now!

1. Living a happy life.

Happiness cannot be found. It is not something anyone just happens upon one day and now they are happy. We make the best of each day, and we make happiness our mindset.

2. Letting go of yesterday.

We can only look at our past as a lesson and our story of who we have become. However, we should not let it ruin our tomorrows, our futures, the days we have yet to live because those days will become new stories.

3. The wrong choices.

Regretting what has happened, or the wrong choices we have made can be what leads to where we are supposed to be.

4. When God says "no"

Sometimes the heartbreak or the rejection of an opportunity was saving us from something much worse. God's plan does not align up with our own, which is for a good reason. Often times we do not know what is best for us, but He does.

5. Being redirected

Our failures and rejections are redirecting us in the right direction, and we will one day be able to look back and see the bigger picture.

6. Where do you want to be tomorrow?

If you have any idea of where you want to go, who you want to be, or what you want to do, is how you are currently living bringing you closer to that?

7. Discipline

Sometimes we have to do what is necessary even if it is unwanted. We cannot always do everything we want, sometimes there are responsibilities we have to take care of.

8. Making necessary changes

If we keep doing the same things or making the same choices, we will continue to receive the same outcome. If we do not like the outcomes we have to make different choices.

9. Be stubborn

Keep your goals, they are valid to who you are, but if something is not working out or not helping you reach that goal, then the method may need to change.

10. In the end, all we can do is try again

At the end of the day, through all of our failures, all we can really do is try again. We may have to change how we try again, but as long as we never stop trying. Life is a constant battle of picking which battles to fight, and which to let go, and where to place all our efforts. There is a reason we are where we are. The motivation may not always be there, but with discipline and dedication, we can make it to our goals!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
