College is so different than high school. It is such a unique period of time in one's life. For me, I went from having a non-stop schedule filled with school from 7:40-2:55 and then dance until late at night. Of course, homework and sleep (on a good night) fit in there as well.
College; however, doesn't have a schedule. Some classes don't even have required attendance. I don't have to be involved nor do I have to go to this meeting nor do I have to do my homework nor is my mom cooking chicken at 7:00 pm sharp and only at 7:00 pm sharp. Instead, the dining hall is open all day long and the homework isn't required. I make my own choices based on what I create for my day.
While high school is about the dependence created for each student on their schedule, college is about the independence. This independence became a positive as I was enjoying my girls night in this Tuesday. It became clear that every night in college was the sleepover I had dreamed of having as a young girl.
Zoey 101 was every girl's dream. Zoey was at a boarding school where she made new friends, had new romances and ran her life. She had sleepovers all the time. Hung out with her friends whenever she wanted to. Oh, and she lived in Malibu.
Although the University of Michigan is not Malibu, I can happily say I'm living like Zoey 101. After a day of class, work, laboratory experiments, and dinner at the sorority, I was able to come home to my best friends.
And as any best friends would, our girls night in consisted of the 10-minute difference. 10 minutes of dancing and singing and happiness while making the Musical.lys that social media would say is a pastime for college students.
These Musical.ly's; however, are no past time.
They're the 10 minutes I get to just be a kid. They're the 10 minutes I get to run free from all my worries about the "adulting" search college is for. They're the 10 minutes I get to live like Zoey 101 where everlasting slumber parties are real.
Musical.ly's are the 10-minute ultimate stress reliever that makes everyone smile and laugh until they drop–literally.
