Picture this, sophomore year starts. You're excited to come back and see all the amazing friends you made freshman year. You come back on move-in day/the first day of classes, and it's almost as if it's freshman year all over again. New professors, new classmates, new friends and the same nerve-cited feeling you had about a year ago. This makes it easy to think you're having some sort of deja vu, like you've lived this part of your life before. It seems like everything is the exact same as last year but I'm here to tell you why it's not, at all actually.

1. Last year you started off knowing nobody, except maybe that one person who went to high school with you. This year you know everybody and are basically the cream of the crop in your school.

2. Unfortunately the sophomore slump is real and happens to almost everyone. It's easy to get down on yourself, but let me tell you if you get through the sophomore slump the light at the end of the tunnel is much brighter than you could have imagined.

3. It's OK not to come back looking like a goddess. I tried, but truth is you deserve to just relax. It's OK, just don't hurt yourself in the process. If the gym is relaxing for you, go for it, but otherwise do whatever you want.

4. It's OK to become amazing friends with "freshmeat" as high schoolers call it. I did, and it's one of the best things that happened sophomore year. We're not in high school and quite literally no one cares what academic level you or your friends are at .

5. Treat yourself. You'll be doing a lot of studying, so treat yourself to that midnight food run and afterwards, pat yourself on the back and say, "You go Glenn Coco!"

6. Be spontaneous. Freshman year you were probably really anxious, which is 100 percent normal. Just know it's OK to randomly go to the beach one weekend.

7. Nobody cares, in the best way possible. Nobody cares who/what you are so flaunt it and be you.

8. Be smart and don't draw negative attention to yourself. Everybody will figure it out.

9. Go home. Your family misses you. I made the mistake of rarely ever going home and learning later that it made my family feel pretty bad. Basically don't pull a me.

10. Do you, and nobody else will care. Life sucks sometimes and nobody should be the one to dictate how you handle it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
