10 Meals to Eat Without Spending Your Entire Paycheck

As a college student, living on your own can be tough. You go to class, then to work, maybe work out in between and at the end of the day all you want is a nice home-cooked meal. But, of course, since you were so ready to be on your own and move out of your parents' house, that means no more mom around, which means you have to survive on your own.

You also work hard for your money. You forego parties, adventures with your friends and sleep just so you can have a paycheck. And we all hate to waste our hard-earned money on take-out meals every day.

Here are some ideas on dorm-cooked or apartment-cooked meals you can make without spending more than $20. The days of deciding whether to starve or be rich are over.

1. Spaghetti and meatballs

2. Chicken & Vegetable Stir Fry

3. Potato Tacos

4. Chicken Quesadillas

5. Mac & Cheese

6. Chicken & Rice Tostada

7. Lasagna

8. Super Nachos

9. Creamy Garlic Shrimp & Pasta

10. Easy Lemon Pasta with Chicken

Say goodbye to cup of noodles and microwaved burritos, because eating as a college student just got easier.

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
