As Christmas rolls around at a rapid pace, I'm starting to get texts with the most difficult question to answer, "What do you want for Christmas?" Every other month I could probably easily give you a long list of the things that I see online and in stores that I definitely don't need, but that doesn't stop me from really wanting them. But it always seems like when December rolls around, I am incapable of letting people know what I want. Mostly, it's me feeling bad about people spending money on me and the idea that I have to reciprocate a gift just as good for the person who took it upon themselves to buy me something. Of course, this time of the season is simply about giving, but the act of giving can sometimes become stressful when you have people in your life who deserve the world, but all you can afford is a cheap materialistic item that they probably don't want. So if the Christmas season has your account lacking and your worrying about what to get a close loved one, then think about giving them one or multiple of these non materialistic items on this list.

1. To Be Understood

I think what everyone wants in life is to be understood. Go the extra step forward this holiday season and try to understand what people are going through. Christmas is a great time for many, but a rough time for many others. Refrain from making people uncomfortable and allowing them to feel misunderstood at such a time as this.

2. A Good Laugh

I'm not sure what's sweeter than someone's pure and real laugh. If I could have anything for this Christmas it'd be a quality laugh. The type of laugh that makes your jaw stretch, stomach hurt, eyes water, and head fly back. Be the person who makes someone's pure laugh come out this season.

3. Christmas Music

I want to indulge in the best of the best Christmas music and I want to sing it obnoxiously loud without being judged. If I don't hear sleigh bells walking into a store, then I don't need anything from that store. I want to drive around with my heat blasting, Christmas music at the max volume, while enjoying the lights and decorations in the nice neighborhoods.

4. A Positive Mindset

All I want for Christmas and the rest of eternity is a positive mindset. Quit causing negativity in people's lives all year round, but specifically for the holidays. Bless someone this Christmas with good vibes and positivity.

5. Good Company

Give a gift to yourself and only surround yourself with the people who make you happy. Bad friends are toxic and you do not need them around you during such a joyous season.

6. Snow

When I say I want the gift of snow this Christmas, I really mean for like one day only because any amount of time after that it just gets in the way of travel plans. I want to bundle up in my coat, boots, and gloves and taste the purity of the snow. Right then I will know, Christmas is truly here.

7. To Make Others Happy

It's so important to make others feel happy. Whether it's a simple act of kindness or nice words that fill the soul, I want to to be the reason for other's happiness this Christmas. An expensive gift is wonderful, but the gift of happiness is the greatest gift.

8. Assurance

To be understood you must first have assurance in yourself. This Christmas, what I truly hope for is assurance in myself. I want the feeling of solidarity and to not have to question anything in my life. Help give the gift of assurance to others by not making them question your value in their life.

9. Warmth

I want the perfect hot chocolate over the holidays to make me feel warm even when the windshield outside is below freezing.

10. Love

To be loved-- Isn't that what the holidays are all about. To be loved, to give love, to feel love. Put a little love in your heart and make sure you experience all of the above this Christmas.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
