Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

$17; some shades on sale for $11 at Sephora

Best 17 bucks I ever spent. I still have a tube of the limited edition 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' lipstick that I am carefully, carefully hoarding. Luckily, this one has 100 shades available--seriously--so when the time comes I'll definitely be re-stocking with Vice. The names range from Anarchy, Big Bang, and Jawbreaker. Definitely recommend for when you need to feel like a James Bond villain.

Burt's Bees BB Cream

$15

Burt's Bees is a classic that never goes out of style. It's all-natural, won't make you break out like some other concealers will, and just looks great too. Thanks, bees. You really did us a favor here.

LUSH Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Tint

$7.99

It smells and tastes like actual candy. Vegan, animal-cruelty free, and not too pricey. The only "problem" is that when I apply any LUSH lip product I want to lick it off. I can live with that, though...

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish

$9.99

I am hopelessly awful at painting my nails. Gel polish is a lifesaver for me with my clumsy hands, and there's no UV light or anything fancy required. Just apply the polish, sit back, and profit.

FRESH Soy Face Cleanser

$15.00 and up

Whenever I have an awful, no-good, bad morning, I use this stuff and it makes my face feel so much better. Not even an 8 AM class can hurt me when this face wash feels so clean, and has a subtly sweet scent as well!

ELF Little Brow Book Kit

On sale for $4; orig. $10

Set includes: 4 reusable eyebrow stencils, 2 powder eyeshadow shades, 1 eyebrow defining wax, 1 eyebrow brush, 1 dual-ended brow and pencil brush and 1 tweezer.

It's 4 dollars. ELF is a gift every day of the year.

Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Orange Ginger Body Lotion

$13.00

Pretty sure the scent of this lotion could bring me back from the dead. Great for when you're so tired that motivation is out of the question.

Maison Lavender Body Butter

$7.99

If I had it my way, I would make everything lavender-scented. It's calming, natural, and the scent stays for longer than some harsher perfumes.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

~$5-$10

The cherry one smells divine, and there are even tinted sprays for people who are too indecisive to commit to hair dye, like me.

Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Mud Mask

$2.99

If you're like me and your skin hates you sometimes, this might be a really good choice. Mud masks can be pricey and messy, but these cute little single-use ones are harmless. Yes to Tomatoes is also a great natural brand, and never irritates my skin.

A Few Thoughts Every College Freshman Has

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
