I came back to our dorm room one day and my roommate had posted these two pieces of paper on the bathroom door. I knew what it was the second I saw it, it was a list labeled "things I am thankful for" and had the days of November listed down them with space to write something new everyday. Neither of our lives are perfect by any means and yet everyday she would wake up and find something to be thankful for. So, it got me thinking about everything that I have to be thankful for.

1. My roommate

Without her, well I would not be writing this... but she saves my life. She is blunt when I need it. She makes sure I do what is best for me, but she is always there to put me back together when I take a wrong turn. She brings faith into our room. It amazes me that after everything she has been through Jesus is still her main focus, her rock in everything. Thank you, for being you.

2. My "Amelias"

The two of them keep my life spontaneous and I could not imagine going a day without them. They remind me that I am a freaking queen that does not deserve anything less than to be treated like one. They are also the ones I call when I need a body taken care of. Thank you, for being my twenty seconds of insane courage.

3. The OG 4

They say you will never keep your high school friends if you do not go to the same college, but we say that is bologna! These three keep me grounded and let me fly all at the same time. They know everything that I have ever done and they love me anyway. We can all go weeks without speaking and come back together like we saw each other yesterday. Thank you, for being my stability.

4. My parents and my sister

They gave me life... Along with constant support. It is kind of impossible to do life without them. They love unconditionally. They continuously shape and help me grow. My little sister inspires me to be a better me. They have always let me make my own decisions, with barricades set up to keep me on the right path. Thank you, for never giving up on me.

5. My other parents

Although it was not your God given duty, you all treat me exactly like I was one of your own. I have one biological sister and twenty adopted siblings thanks to all of you! Thank you for protecting me, defending me, feeding me, supporting me, and all those other parent duties. Thank you for letting me be apart of your families.

6. My grandparents

Thank you for the constant reassurance that I can rule the world. Thank you for always making sure I am doing what is best for me. Thank you for teaching me and giving me opportunities to learn. Thank you for believing in me.

7. My Aunts and Uncles

Thank you for being my home away from home. Thank you for constant support and checking to make sure I am never living on the lint in my pocket. Thank you for offering to fight for me, whether I am in the wrong or not. Thank you for being a secret keeper, a shoulder to cry on, a stern lecture, etc... Thank you for being everything and anything.

8. Constant inside jokes

Whether they be with friends or family or that random lady that had the same thought you did at the store, inside jokes keep life interesting. People will never understand why phrases like "word to your mother" or "uncooked chicken nugget" or "the other woman in the closet" or "I ain't got no water," are so funny, but that's okay. Thank you for making me laugh at the most inappropriate times.

9. My work buddies

Working for a phone-a-thon company is only fun, if you make it fun! Thank you for an escape from reality. Thank you for trips down memory lane. Thank you for making new memories with me. Thank you for understanding the need for an escalator. Thank you for constant laughs and a *Wondaful" work environment!

10. My editor in chief

Thank you for always encouraging me and the rest of our team to reach beyond our goals. Thank you for helping us with ideas. Thank you for doing your best despite your busy personal schedule. Thank you for answering all my "duhh" questions! Thank you for this amazing opportunity.

These are ten of the things that I am most defiantly thankful for this year!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
