10 Life Lessons My Dad Taught Me
Alexia Smith

In the 19 years of my life my Dad has always been my hero. His life lessons that he has taught me, are what makes me into the woman I am today. His care and respect for people are what makes him so special to me. Here is just a little tribute to the number one man in my life.

1. Respect Other Cultures, Religions, and Thoughts

In my life I have never heard my dad say a bad name to anyone. He keeps his thoughts to himself and does not look down on people.

2. See The World

My father has given me the opportunity to see the world. He has made sure that I had the best experiences to be able to see different perspectives from all around the world.

3. Dress To Impress

Ozzy Osborne meets Danny Tanner.

4. You Are Never Too Old To Do The Things You Love

Just because you are a dad, does not mean you have to give up on the things your love. My dad loves to play his electric guitar, attend music festivals and even watch Nacho Libre one too many times

5. Be An Amazing Host

Ocktoberfest, Pizza Parties, and Fight Nights are just some of the most incredible parties my dad has cooked and hosted for. He uses his many skills and talents to fellowship to the community and to our friends.

6. Push Yourself

My Dad has always pushed me to become my best self. He showcases healthy habits, and truly lives by example.

7. Look for A Man Who Treats You With Respect

In the 22 plus years they have been married, my mom and dad have been a true power couple. He loves my mom with such an undying spirit and respects her choices and words.

8. Always Know How To Have Fun

This picture speaks for itself.

9. Be There For Family

My Dad has always been there for my family. He has been the main support system in our life by providing for us and making sure we are well cared for.

10. Trust God And Everything Else Will Fall Into Place

Trust God. Fear God. Live the way He intended.

A big thanks to my dad for all of those early morning carpools, my college education, pizza addiction and always being the best parent I could of asked for.

Much Love,

Alexia

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
