It’s no secret that dogs make excellent pets. From their unconditional love to their enthusiasm for a good meal, these animals have won our hearts time and time again. But, perhaps they know how to live life better than we do. Although we may have taught them to roll over and sit, dogs definitely have a few tricks they could teach us.
1. Walks are amazing.
There is nothing like talking a walk outside every now and again. The fresh air and exercise are good for you, and you never know when you might meet a new friend.
2. Car trips are pretty cool too.
Pack up the car and go somewhere. There are lots of cool places to go that you can't get to on foot. Enjoy the ride as well. Turn up the music, kick back, maybe even stick your head out the window. Dogs don't care about messing up their hair.
3. Don't trust the mailman.
He's probably just bringing bills and credit card applications, anyway.
4. Forgive and forget.
Ever heard the saying that if you lock your significant other and your dog in the trunk of you car for a few hours, only one of them will be happy to see you? Okay, so maybe you don't have to be that forgiving. But dogs don't care what you've done to them in the past. They love you no matter what. And maybe we could use a little more of that.
5. Nap often.
After a long day of school or work, sometimes all you need to clear your mind is a decent nap. It's like a reset button for your day. Afterwards, you get to start the day again.
6. Never skip a meal.
Food is important. It gives you the energy you need to get through the day. You need that energy if you want to have a successful day of tail-chasing, or you know, work.
7. Stay loyal.
We don't have owners like dogs do, but stay loyal to the people (and animals) around you. Loyalty is an important quality in any relationship, romantic or platonic. Stand by your loved ones through thick and thin.
8. Don't judge others based on their appearance.
Though we may look different, we have a lot in common on the inside. Don't let color, shape, or size dictate your friend choices. Sometimes opposites do attract. You may even find yourself a new best friend, or bodyguard.
9. Playtime is important.
All work and no play isn't good for you. Remember that there is a life outside of work and school. Enjoy yourself sometimes. While hard work is important, it's also important to know when to cut loose and have a good time.
10. Appreciate the small things.
Dogs can get excited about finding an old crumb under the refrigerator. Sometimes you just have to be thankful for small things like dessert or reruns of your favorite TV shows. Find joy in these things and don't sweat the big stuff.
