"Glee" may be gone, but its characters and their wisdom will stick with us forever. And thankfully, our good friend Netflix allows us to relive all of the best moments in "Glee"; everything from their first tear-jerkingperformance of "Don't Stop Believin'" to the passionate Rachel Berry winning her well-earned Tony award. Through every season, however, Sue Sylvester's witty mannerisms, scheming antics and big heart (though she would never admit it) provide viewers with many important life lessons. These are just a few of the many things I learned from my favorite "Glee" characters.

1. Love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin, even if that means marrying yourself.

2. Family is everything, even if you don't always get along.

3. Your opinion is yours and yours alone.

4. Don't worry about pleasing other people; live your life for you.

5. Never let anybody forget you the eff you are! Which is freakin' fabulous.

6. When you love someone, it's important to always have their back and protect them.

7. Your feelings are valid and important. Every single one...

8. The best insults are the creative ones.

9. Honesty is the best policy, no matter how harsh.

10. Think carefully before you speak.

Thanks for everything, Sue.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
