If you know anything about me, you probably know that I'm somewhat obsessed with Criminal Minds. But not only is it a good show, it has taught me many of my understandings about life, and here are a few of the lessons that have had the biggest impact on me as a person.
1) Worldly truths.
There are times where the BAU tells us exactly what we don't want to hear - but they are truths that we know we need to face.
2) Trust.
Even though it's difficult, sometimes you have to let people in; sometimes you just need someone to tell you to stop faking it and just be there.
3) What it means to be a friend.
Spencer Reid is the poster child for friendship, and inspires us all to be there for our friends the same way that Reid is there for everyone.
4) Love is real.
While you probably have never shipped two people as hard as you ship Derek Morgan and Penelope Garcia (guilty), they are proof that true love exists - but it doesn't always have to be romantic, and sometimes it's your best friend.
5) Forgiveness.
That it's okay to give second chances - even if the second chance is for yourself.
6) That people are not what they seem.
As the quote goes, "be kind; everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
7) Loss.
Alongside the BAU, we experience every loss and pain that they do, and our grief is just as real.
8) Sometimes people leave.
But it doesn't mean their impact on you meant any less.
9) Strength.
With a support system like the BAU, we can truly accomplish anything.
10) What it means to be a family.
You became a part of the bond that the BAU made with each other, and in with all of them you found a family and a support system - and to you, it is as real as anyone else's.
