It's that time of year again; the sun is out and shining, ice cream can be eaten outside, dusty sunglasses are pulled out of a dark drawer. . . But instead of getting some much needed Vitamin D, you've been wandering around inside for hours, going from department to department in search of a good deal, persevering through the pain in your feet caused by being dumb and wearing sandals while weaving in and out of crowds. . . (Or is that just me...?) It's the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The pre-sale started July 14 and the sale opens to everybody on the 22nd. These deals go quickly, so I've outlined 10 must-haves.

1. Free People Bralettes

Regular Price: $38.00

Sale Price: $24.90

Free People's bralettes are incredibly popular, extremely comfortable, and kinda pricey, so when they go on sale, it's wonderful. Bralettes are a necessity for the current backless trends (and for basically all of Free People's clothes).

2. Free People Crossover Sweater

Regular Price: $88.00

Sale Price: $58.90

I like this sweater because it's simple and classic, but with a twist. I'm tempted to say that it has a sassy flair, but I'm not sure how a sweater can sass you.

3. Topshop Chiffon Skirt

Regular Price: $85.00

Sale Price $55.90

This skirt has a classic length and frame, which I think looks amazing with the pleats.

4. Topshop Turtleneck Top

Regular Price: $25.00

Sale Price: $15.90

Personally, I love the fact that turtlenecks are coming back into style because I love having a cozy neck. This top is basic but with an elegantly fashionable cut.

5. Zella Crop Leggings

Regular Price: $48.00

Sale Price: $24.90

Zella leggings are comfortable and are great for exercising-- unlike many leggings designed for leisure. Also of note: this is a really good deal.

6. Nike

Pretty much anything Nike that actually goes on sale during the Nordstrom Sale will be a great deal, but in particular, I would say that some of the best deals are on shoes.

7. Mary Jane Pump

Regular Price: $139.95

Sale Price: $79.90

These are adorable. That is all.

Get them here.

8. BCBGeneration Ankle Bootie

Regular Price: $99.95

Sale Price: $64.90

This is essentially your standard ankle bootie. Not only is it really cute and simple, it's also reasonably priced.

Get them here.

9. BP. Cardigan

Regular Price: $68.00

Sale Price: $44.90

True story: I've always admired these long open cardigans on other people but was always skeptical of how they would look on me. Then I tried one on, and it was great. It's like wearing a blanket all of the time.

10. Denim

Typically, denim at Nordstrom is pretty darn expensive. That all changes during the sale. Yes, they probably still won't be cheap, but a little bit more reasonably priced. Plus, you can get some high end really good quality jeans. Personally, I have had great success with Paige and Topshop jeans.

Happy shopping!

*disclaimer* I am, by no means, an expert. I am not a fashion expert, and I am not a Nordstrom expert. So take my advice with a grain of salt, eh?

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
