10 "Instagram Famous" Foods Actually Worth Trying
The New Potato

Recently, Instagram has been flooded with pictures of trendy foods and restaurants that everyone wants to try. Most of these places, however, now have long lines due to the high demand. Before making the trip to NYC and waiting in a potential line, most people want to know if the food is actually worth it (or if it would just make for a cool Instagram post). Here is a list of 10 Instagram famous NYC foods actually worth trying.

1. Doughnut Plant's Doughnuts

Featuring several locations throughout NYC including Chelsea and Brooklyn, Doughnut Plant features a wide variety of delicious doughnuts all beautifully decorated. They also feature a wide variety of seasonal doughnuts including candy corn, apple cinnamon and pumpkin. They are even introducing vegan donuts to their collection. This is definitely a must-try!

2. 10 Below's Ice Cream

Conveniently located in numerous places including Chinatown and the Lower East Side, 10 Below features a unique ice cream experience where "rolls" of ice cream are created right in front of you on a cold plate. They offer many different flavors and allow you to pick what topics you want included/mixed in with your ice cream. All ice cream lovers should definitely try this creamy treat!

3. The Sugar Factory's Goblets

One of my personal favorites, the original NYC Sugar Factory is located in the Meatpacking District but there are also new locations in Times Square and the Upper West Side. Although they are most famous for their goblets, the Sugar Factory also features an extensive menu that features delicious food ranging from mac and cheese pops to delicious crepes. The goblets come in a variety of sweet flavors, are offered alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and are decorated with themed candies.

4. The Bagel Store's Rainbow Bagels

Located in Brooklyn, The Bagel Store creates bagels that are so beautiful you almost feel bad eating them. Typically they feature the classic "rainbow bagel" seen above, but they also feature specially colored bagels for different events like the Super Bowl and holidays like Valentines Day. This bagel tastes even better with their "Funfetti" cream cheese.

5. Eggloo's Ice Cream

Chinatown is home to many wonderful foods including Eggloo's, a store that sells Hong Kong egg-based waffles featuring ice cream and a variety of toppings. They feature a variety of flavors of both the waffle and the ice cream which offer a twist to traditional ice cream are sure to please any ice cream lover.

6. The Nutella Bar's Nutella Treats

Located right next to the Flatiron Building, Eataly's Nutella Bar is an absolute must-try. There are too many Nutella based products to pick just one, but my personal favorites are the Nutella crepe and Nutella Iced coffee. Any Nutella lover is sure to be in Heaven here.

7. Milk Bar Bakery's Ice Cream

Although Milk Bar Bakery features a variety of different desserts, they are undoubtably most known for their soft serve ice cream and feature a long list of NYC locations including Midtown and Chelsea. The most popular (and most photographed!) of their desserts is their cereal soft serve that features cornflakes and is known for tasting like "the bottom of a bowl of cornflakes."

8. Dominique Ansel's Cookie Shots

This Soho bakery features warm shot-glass shaped cookies that are filled with vanilla milk and are absolutely delicious. This dessert takes the idea of milk and cookies to a whole new level.

9. Juice Generation's Smoothie Bowls

Smoothie bowls in general have been taking over the nation and Juice Generation's several NYC locations have some of the absolute best. My personal favorite is the peanut butter acai bowl, but there are so many delicious flavors to choose from and the abundance of locations means they are never too far away.

10. Black Tap's Milkshakes

Located in both Soho and the Meatpacking District, Black Tap has created extravagant milkshakes that may appear overwhelming but are actually so good. Coming from someone who is not a milkshake fan, the amount of "extras" added to your milkshake mask the straight milkshake taste that everyone will love. They also feature special limited time milkshakes that are only available for a few days out of the year.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
