It might just be a trend and in a short amount of time. It might seem "out of style" or "uncool," but I honestly think if it is a trend, that it needs to stay. Man buns, long hair, and beards are underrated and under appreciated. I find them attractive and I know my friends would disagree and question our friendship. I like short hair on guys too but there's something about the combination of long hair and a beard that just works. For the people who actually like this hairstyle on guys you should follow these Instagram accounts, if you have not followed them already.
