Just in case you forgot.

Sometimes we all need to be reminded of the basics. Here are 10 things that we should all keep in mind on a day-to-day basis

1. Be thankful.

First and foremost, if you're reading this, you should already be thankful because that means you woke up this morning and have been given another day on this earth. It also means that you have access to either a phone or computer, which is not the case for a lot of people. Don't focus on what you don't have and focus on what you do.

2. Someone else's beauty does not take away from your own.

You were made just the way you are for a reason.

3. Remember what's important.

Life is too short to be concerned with insignificant things. Worry about your family and friends, your education, your health, and your future. Sort out your priorities and ask yourself if what you're doing in the moment is beneficial.

4. Be the person you'd want to hang out with.

What goes around comes around. If you put your best foot forward, you will attract the right people.

5. You are your biggest critic.

Cliché, but true. No one cares about that "massive" zit that you were willing to skip a fun day out over nearly as much as you do.

6. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Next time something is stressing you out, take a second and think about whether or not it is worth ruining what has the potential to be a great day.

7. Be open to change.

Life is full of uncertainties. People change. Circumstances change. Rather than being focused on the past and the fact that you are no longer 100 percent comfortable, welcome whatever new opportunities are coming your way. Everything happens for a reason, right?

8. Holding a grudge is only holding you back.

Ultimately, the person who is the most negatively affected by a grudge is the person holding it. Every day that you let someone else bring you down is a day that you will never get back.

9. Change your outlook on failure.

Everything in your life is either going to be a success or a learning opportunity.

10. Make your own life so amazing that you don't have time to worry about the lives of others.

We are all guilty of gossiping. It can be a hard habit to break, but if your own life is so full of activities, opportunities, and people that make you happy, you won't have the time nor the desire to discuss others in a negative light. Focus on bettering yourself.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
