My name is Jennifer Anton, and this summer I will be watching my two younger cousins. My cousins are two boys under the age of fifteen. As you can imagine, the two boys are super involved in video games, iPads, iPhones, television, and anything else that has a screen attached to it. My very important task for this summer: get them out of the house and off of the screens! Here are 10 ideas to make sure your kids are having fun, away from electronic devices.

1. Go to the Park

Every neighborhood has a park! On a nice day take the kids there and have some fun on the slide, swings or in the sandbox. You could even pack your lunch and have a great picnic there as well. Don't forget the sunscreen!

2. Go to a Carnival

What a great way to spend a hot summer night! Carnivals have fun rides, games, prizes and maybe even some delicious funnel cake!

3. Go for a Bike Ride

Bike rides not only provide great fun, but it is also a great way to get exercise! Some great places to go for bike rides other than around the neighborhood are the lake front or forrest preserve.

4. Fishing

No better way to relax and have quality family time than sitting on the side of a lake or river waiting for the fish to bite! You are sure to create lasting memories with all the fun you will have while fishing.

5. Go for a Swim

Another great way to get exercise but have fun at the same time! Fishing is a great way to get the kids away from the electronics since they aren't allowed in water. Don't forget the sunscreen!

6. Plant a Garden

Planting a garden is a very rewarding way to spend the day. You are spending quality time with your family while improving the look of your yard!

7. Go to the Zoo

Going to the Zoo is a great way to spice up the day. You get to see animals that you don't get to see everyday! The kids are bound to remember these days for years to come.

8. Go to the Movies

Not everyday in Summer is going to be a beautiful day; we are bound to get some rain sometime! A great way to help make the day go by faster is to go to the movies. Yes, there is still a screen involved, but at least you are there spending time together and the screen isn't filled with games and emojis!

9. Bowling

Another great rainy-day activity is to go bowling! Put on those great looking shoes and bring your competitive side out to see who brings home the win!

10. Crafting or Do it Yourself Ideas

This is something truly memorable to do with kids or the whole family. Not only are you sprucing up your living space, but you are adding hand made items from your loved ones! Visit Pinterest to get great ideas of things to make!

So there you have it! 10 great tips to get your kids peeled away from their screens for the summer! I hope you enjoy and have a wonderful fun summer! Now get out there and start having electronic-free fun!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
