It’s that time of year again and whether you love it or hate it I think we can all admit there are a few things that drive us a little crazy about the holiday season. Here’s a list of my top 10 pet peeves about the holiday season.

1. People

From crowded shopping malls, long lines, and the rude soccer mom’s that INSIST on speaking to the store manager it gets pretty exhausting putting up with crowds of people that seem to have no idea where there going.

2. Terrible drivers and holiday traffic

It seems like December is the time of the year people suddenly forget how to drive. After 31 days of being cut off, constant horn honking, and those terrible parking jobs in mall parking lots I think we’ve all had enough.

3. Putting up with relatives

We love em…………. But we hate em. While it’s no longer cute that that weird aunt of yours STILL pinches your checks it’s still nice to see family and catch up with everyone. (At least that’s what we tell ourselves)

4. Being broke

At this point, I think we’re all afraid to check our bank accounts. But be strong, we should be able recover that savings account… by July.

5. The same four Christmas songs

Gas stations. Department Stores. Grocery Stores. Car radios. If I hear “Santa Baby” or “All I Want For Christmas Is You” I’m probably gonna lose it.

6. Having so much to do and no time to do it

Between work, finals, holiday shopping, and seasonal parties it’s amazing we all find time to breathe.

7. The people who are impossible to shop for

We all have one in our life. And every year we painfully drag ourselves through the mall looking for SOMETHING they might like. I usually opt for socks. Who could turn down socks?!

8. Having to work every single day to pay for it all

As if the holidays didn’t keep us busy enough, we have to pick up extra shifts and collect hours to try to pay for it all.

9. All of the weight you gain

We all start looking a little like Santa during the holiday season, so bring on the oversized sweaters and leggings!

10. Fluffing the tree

If you’ve ever had a fake tree, you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you don’t, consider yourself lucky.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
