We have all heard the rumors of old houses and inns being haunted. But is it really true? Pennsylvania is famous for its ancient towns and buildings so obviously there will be hints of every house being haunted. Whether you believe in ghosts or not you can still say that these 10 haunted places in Pennsylvania are truly creepy no matter what lurks there. We have all heard of the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia and where the battle of Gettysburg so obviously they are on this list. Ghosts have been famous for walking around all over America (Connecticut being the most haunted state in the US.) So, are ghosts real or are they just a figment of our imagination? Depends on who you ask. I bet if you asked my father he would just laugh in your face but if you asked me, well, my eyes would widen and say of course! So what do you believe? Here are the 10 most haunted places in Pennsylvania!

1. Hershey Park, Hershey

Famous for the chocolate and roller coasters, a lot of people seem to forget there have been two gruesome deaths at Hershey Park, the two roller coasters the accidents have happened on were already supposedly haunted. After the park is closed, employees have seen ghosts walking around park and most of all, the carousel they have in the middle of the park turns of by itself.

2. Wayne Hotel, Honesdale

Hotel Wayne is famous for being on an episode of of Ghost Finders (Season 3 Episode 9). Also, a psychic went in the hotel to investigate and immediately sensed an eeriness in the place. She says that she felt a Civil War soldier's presence in one of the rooms she went into. She also states that there are most ghosts living in the hotel than anyone could imagine such as a mother singing and cooking in one of the rooms, the basement having a presence of a male cook and supposedly moves things around, and a man who oddly looks like Abraham Lincoln but is really not the President.

3. US Hotel, Hollidaysburg

A group of paranormal investigators went into the us hotel after reported sightings of ghosts. When they began their investigation, they took pictures of a bedroom and had a horrifying finding of a young woman lying in bed holding her head as if in pain. After that sighting an investigator yelled everyone to get out of the room and said that he saw a man with an ax. They all came to consider that the man had murdered the young woman.

4. Dixmont State Hospital, Pittsburgh

The well-known insane asylum in the western part of PA has been famous for its ghost sightings of patients and employees. The most seen ghost in the hospital is a man who stands guard by the morgue to scare away any trespassers.

5. The Seven Gates of Hell, York

There was once an asylum standing where the gruesome sightings have been. The building burned down and since the firemen did not get to it in time, some patients and employees were burned alive. That is not only the gross part. They put up gates to help get the escaped patients so they could not run away. The legend says that anyone who has passes all seven gates go right to Hell.

6. The Inn at Jim Thorpe

Famous for having General Ulysses S. Grant, President William Taft, Buffalo Bill, and many other well-known people, it is also famous for their reported sightings of ghosts. Objects move, TV’s turn on and off by themselves, and chairs have been flipped upside down while guests have been sleeping in the same room. Photographs have been taken and shadows have always been somewhere in the picture and no one knows why.

7. Scranton Cultural Center, Scranton

From Scranton myself, I had to put this on the list. I have many friends whose mother and father are cops. Whenever something happened and they had to go into the Masonic Temple (cultural center) they always seem to enter a room which they have never seen before. Sure, the place is huge but you would think that after go in it so many times you would have seen everything. That is not the crazy part. When they go into the room they have never seen before, they go out and come back to show the other police officers what they saw and the room disappears. No one can explain how or why it happens.

8. The Battle of Gettysburg

Being the bloodiest war in American history, it would be impossible not to have ghost sightings. 51,000 soldiers have been reported dead, wounded, or MIA. The most haunted place of that battle field was the Herr Tavern which was used as a hospital during the war. Many soldiers died from their limbs being cut off and dying of infection. It is reported to be the most haunted place on the battlefield.

9. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia

Since the 1940s officers and inmates have seen some pretty spooky sightings inside the prison and it has only gotten worse after it was shut down in 1971. Every year paranormal investigators go out to the frightful building and find things that should be remained unnoticed. Even driving next to the prison gives you a negative feeling.

10. Hansell Road, Buckingham

Driving down Hansell road after dark is probably not the smartest idea. There has always been sightings of weird lights and mysterious mist coming out of nowhere. There is no explanation on how the lights appear and disappear nor the mist also.

So these are the 10 most haunted places in Pennsylvania. If you are into the paranormal I highly suggest you go to these places and check it out for yourself! Just remember to bring sage and a cross with you...

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

sisters

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.
