10 Happy News Headlines To Brighten Up Your Day
The Imaginative Conservative

With the current state of the world how it is, it seems as if we're constantly surrounded by stressful, negative news. Even through social media we are bombarded with articles and breaking news on the most recent tragedy or corrupt governmental action. Hard as it may seem to believe, there are still good people in the world who create random acts of kindness every day, though the media sadly usually doesn't consider these acts newsworthy enough to make it on our news feeds. So if you're like me, and you're one more protest coverage away from deleting your Facebook profile, then here's a few examples of good souls to get you through this week.

1. Girl Has Memory Wiped Clean and Falls Back In Love With Her Boyfriend

A real life version of The Vow! Not that losing your memory is something to romanticize, but how sweet is the idea of her boyfriend's conviction to get back what they had before? A testament to modern day romance if there ever was one! Check out the full story here.

2. Firefighter adopts baby he delivered on emergency call.

*Insert swooning*. Proof that some things in the universe are just meant to be. Check out the full story at today.com.

3. Grateful Dog is So Happy To Be Rescued

Literally a picture worth a thousand words. As the article well says, EXACTLY why everyone should #adoptdontshop! Who wouldn't want this sweet cuddle buddy in their home?

4. Astronaut has 2 rescue dogs in official NASA portrait

And speaking of adopting, here's one of America's finest proudly displaying man's best friend. Glad NASA let these two rescues sneak in there! #AdoptDontShop

5. Rare Newborn Tiger Triplets Bottle Fed

In case you needed an extra dose of cuteness to your day. There's nothing better than watching tiny furry babies drink from a bottle! Check out the video here.

6. A Random Act of Kindness Leads to a Homeless Man's Reunion With His Family

Faith in humanity restored. Pay it forward, people! Catch the full story here.

7. Australia's oldest man helps to save injured penguin

Literally the cutest thing I've ever heard. Can you imagine a tiny old man knitting even tinier little onesies? For PENGUINS?

8. The 100-year-old couple - still married, still going strong

How freaking cute is that? 80 years going strong with just as much (probably more!) life and love in them than any modern day couple out there. #Goals anyone? Catch the full article here - trust me, it's worth the read!

9. Man takes terminally ill dog on farewell cross-country road trip

Not the happiest of titles, but one of the most "AWWW" worthy. The article itself is a few months old so no way of knowing where life has taken them yet, but at least the future looked hopeful for Bella and Robert back then! Check out the heartwarming story here.

10. Penguin travels thousands of miles each year to visit man who saved it

The bond between man and animal amazes once again! "I think the penguin believes Joao is part of his family and probably a penguin as well," [Biologist Joao Paulo Krajewski] said. "When he sees him he wags his tail like a dog and honks with delight." Be right back, melting into a puddle. Check out the story via cbsnews.com.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
