As someone who personally doesn't love scary movies, I can't wait until Halloween rolls around so that I can watch the family friendly Halloween movies on Disney Channel and channels that have Halloween countdowns. Who doesn't love the idea of curling up in bed on an autumn night to watch "Halloweentown"? There are plenty of movies that you can watch this October without getting nightmares when it's over. Here are 10 of my favorites:

1. Hocus Pocus

"Hocus Pocus" is one of those classic Halloween films from our childhood. Who can forget when the witches chased the kids into the graveyard? So maybe that was a little scary way back when, but now it's just a fun movie to watch every year.

2. Halloweentown series

"Halloweentown" isn't only my favorite Halloween-themed series, but possibly my favorite movie series of all time. Imaginations ran rampant when we were kids, dreaming of going through the portal with Marnie on Halloween! You can visit the town in Oregon that inspired the "Halloweentown" set!

3. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

We can all wait with Linus as he expects the Great Pumpkin to come along! Then we can all be bummed with Charlie Brown when he gets a rock during his trick-or-treating.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Yes, the title is deceiving! Jack missteps through a portal and ends up in a Christmas town, much different from his spooky hometown. Some songs and romance ensue, and the spirit of the film has kept it popular, especially on television channels that play Halloween countdowns, for years.

5. The Addams Family

Although some people probably wouldn't classify this as a Halloween movie, its creepiness and eeriness definitely make it perfect to watch for the season. One of the best parts when watching it with the family is that parents recall the original show and can connect it across generations to their kids.

6. The Haunted Mansion

Who wouldn't want to watch the movie based off one of the best rides at Disney? Some find it surprising that the attraction came before the film, but it did and a remake is supposedly on its way.

7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

This film about an unqualified girl who finds out that she has to hunt vampires is truly a Halloween comedy. Her transition into a vampire slayer, as the title hints at, is funny to watch.

8. Casper

This classic about the famous cartoon character Casper the Friendly Ghost is a Halloween favorite. Casper and Kat become good friends and their journey throughout the movie is both a funny and sad adventure.

9. Twitches

They're twins. They're witches. They're twitches! The Disney Channel movie was extremely popular when it first came out and we couldn't wait until the second one premiered! Watching the twins find each other and discover their powers is so much fun, and then watching them defeat evil is even cooler.

10. Mean Girls

OK, so this one isn't a Halloween movie, but it has a Halloween scene! You can't help but simultaneously laugh at and feel bad for Cady when she walks into a party fully dressed in costume to find the other girls, well, not as dressed. Also, October 3 is Mean Girls Day and there's a Halloween scene in the movie, so now's the perfect time to re-watch it!

What's your favorite Halloween-themed movie?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
