Halloween is fast approaching so I know you're all starting the mad dash to plan out a weekend of different outfits and make them come together without spendin a fortune! Each year my friends and I always have the biggest freak out filled with several hours of googling costume ideas to find the perfect ones that are funny, relevant, inexpensive, creative, and downright fun. Plus, there's nothing wrong with sticking to the basics every once in awhile to stay on the inexpensive side! So here's a list I've complied of some of the easiest and most fun Halloween costumes that everyone will be sure to recognize. Half are ones I've done and the other half are ones I wish I could do!

P.S. Don't be a clown...

1. Beanie Babies

Simplistic and cute, Beanie Babies are a fun twist on the basic animal costume. Grab some friends, pick out some animal ears and tails (we got ours at Target for $1 each), use appropriate colored clothing that you already own, and create your tags and this costume is set!

2. Netflix and Chill

This is an incredibly easy and cheap costume and EVERYONE loved it! We were immediately recognizable and called out. Not only was this easy and cheap but it was so comfy and warm (it is October after all). We purchased the red and blue shirts from Walmart, cut them up a bit, used fabric paint for the lettering and we were golden!

3. Police Officer

Now I'm aware that this costume is a little cliché but it is certainly both cheap and easy if you go the route I did. I purchased the foam gun, handcuffs, hats and badges at stores like Target and Walmart and wore black clothing I already owned. This costume was fun because everyone recognized it and it's a really fun excuse to handcuff yourself to a cutie or a friend you want to be close to!

4. "Bloody" Anything

When we inevitably ran out of ideas for the entire weekend of Halloween and had used up most of our allotted budget on creative costumes we went to an old classic and ended up being pleasantly surprised with the results and the compliments we received! We found temporary "bloody" tattoos at Dollar General and Fake Blood at Walmart. We dressed up in clothes we felt cute in (and decided to match) and not only did we feel cute but we also looked scary! A lot of people complimented the work and we were amazed that such a cheap, simple costume could look so good! We had the benefit of someone with special effects makeup knowledge but even without it, the tattoos and fake blood looked really good!

5. Tinder

This one is just common sense as to why it was so loved. This costume was a HUGE hit and got a ton of compliments throughout the night. This was inexpensive but definitely required some extra effort on our part. We bought the paper at Walmart and created the tinder "profile" then found the best solution to be stapling the paper to a bandana that we tied around our heads. This gave us the freedom to use both our hands and the paper could bend enough to get through crowds at parties and bars without completely destroying the costume. I definitely recommend this costume because it was SO much fun.

6. Snapchat Filters

Easy and relevant, snapchat filters would be a fun group costume idea with friends! Pick out one of the MANY filters and find a way to make it happen. Flower crown? Do some pretty makeup and place flowers in your hair. Deer? Talk in a high pitch voice, throw on some antlers and do some animal makeup. Bee, panda, throw up rainbow, the list goes on and on. Get a big group together and this will be awesome.

7. Thing 1 and Thing 2

Or as many Things as you can get together! Create the shirt yourself or order it online, grab it from the store, whatever fits your budget! A simple costume that you can easily make your own with a blue wig, blue temporary dye, stockings, a tutu, makeup, any or all of the above.

8. Party Animals

Combine this with your beanie baby costume and you'll get two nights out of one inexpensive costume! Become any animal you want with pals and throw on some party hats, get noise makers, gift wrap, necklaces, the whole nine yards for this punny and cute costume!

9. Cosmo and Wanda

A cute friend OR couple costume! You probably have most of the clothing needed for this or can find it for cheap at Walmart or Target! Then get spray in green and pink hair dye, create wands and crowns (use a headband and pipe cleaner to make them stand above your head) and this costume will be a HUGE success!

10. 50 Shades of Grey

If you need an easy solo costume, THIS is the one for you. With the second movie coming out, you can STILL feed into this trend even though the hype has died down (mainly because the first movie sucked.) Head to Walmart and get as many paint samples as possible!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
