If you're a 'Michigander', you're well aware of us having four different seasons. For the most part, we embrace all four. Why can't we embrace seasonal change in our own lives like we do for the climate? I've come up with 10 hacks to embrace change in your life this fall.

  1. When Fall rolls around, the leaves begin to change colors and eventually fall off of trees in preparation of the Winter. The leaves wouldn't survive through the cold. Like the trees, you should let go of your tarnished leaves (baggage) that won’t last as fall progresses and the weather gets colder.
  2. The transition into fall from the summer is so beautiful to us. You should see your transitions in life as the same. Change is good. Embrace new phases in your life because it means you're growing. Don't spend this fall looking at your mistakes. Give yourself a pat on the back for the good you've done thus far.
  3. Just like Mother Nature prepares herself, you should too. Set some awesome goals this Fall. Short term and long term. What can you prepare for now that will help you later in every other season?
  4. During Fall there are so many delicious foods and drinks that are available. Along with your Cider or Pumpkin Spiced Latte, feed your soul too. Fall gives you a reason to find a good book or article to read that will improve your thinking.
  5. Colors - Allow the colorful scenery everywhere you go to inspire you to be in color as well. Embrace every color you come across. Every race. Every culture.
  6. If you're going through a break up this fall, embrace that. I know that sounds insane, but I'm not saying embrace how hurt you're feeling. I'm saying embrace the potential of how much better you'll be doing next season if you keep your head held high during this one. Look at the bigger picture. Anything that's meant to be, will be.
  7. Let fall give you a reason to spread positivity everywhere you go. You should embrace positivity because just like you have struggles, so does the world. Positivity creates peace. Let's make this season a no judgment zone.
  8. New hair color you've been dying to try? Try it! Fall is a reason to try new things.
  9. Oh, and let's not forget about Fall gear. Here's a reason to participate in 'retail therapy': buy a cozy sweater and wear it every single day. Jk. But if you'd like to, go ahead! (Remember no judgment zone season).
  10. Lastly, Mother Nature doesn't look around at who's paying attention, who's ready, or wonder what other people think before she transitions into Fall. She just does it. Let Fall be a reason to allow you to be yourself regardless of what others may think. Be you because just like Fall, you were created for a reason. Don't waste anymore time thinking otherwise.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
