We all do them.

Dancers don't get enough credit, in my opinion. We willingly put ourselves in pain to create a masterpiece, we knowingly kick ourselves on the head with our own feet, and we can learn a dance in as quickly as five minutes. But what I have come to realize is that us dancers inhabit little quirks that non-dancers don't do. I have put together a list of ten things we do that is not quite as normal as non-dancers.

1. Stand up on their tip toes when reaching for things

It's not that we can't reach, we just want any excuse to be on our toes.

2. We can pick out what floors are good to tap on.

If you ask me I'm almost positive Lowes has an amazing floor to tap on.

3. We stretch anywhere and everywhere.

Whether it's in class or at the gym, we aren't trying to show off how well we can stretch it's just a habit.

4. When listening to music, we make up dances in our heads.

We all have that playlist of already choreographed songs.

5. Leap over things, like puddles.

Whenever it's an opportunity for us to do something as little as leaping over a puddle we do it as extravagant as possible.

6. Walk to a beat

Whether there's music playing or not we can't help walking to a beat.

7. Dance around in public places

We have no recollection of who's watching or around we just dance anyway. Especially grocery stores when our parents are taking forever.

8. When picking things up, we pose.

Whether it's bending down to pick something up or stretching upward to get something, you can bet that our leg will be at a perfect 180 angle above our head.

9. We watch dance movies.

We all have seen those movies like Center Stage or Chicago and can perform every dance exactly the same as the characters in the movie.

10. Crack our joints.

Our backs, necks, even toes. People always shudder of the amount of cracks our bodies can make.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
